China poised to expand influence in the world

While we’re busy infighting or involved in military actions, China is doing real nation building from the Americas to Africa to South Asia, and spreading its politics globally.

Unlike the United States and Europe, China uses aid, trade, and foreign direct investment strategically to build goodwill, expand its political sway, and secure the natural resources it needs to grow. Belt and Road is the most impressive example of this. It is an umbrella initiative of current and future infrastructure projects. In the next decades, China plans to build a thick web of infrastructure around Asia and, through similar initiatives, around the world.

Xi Jinping is a much more assertive leader than his recent predecessors. In a long and confident speech, he looked back on his first five years in office, saying the party had achieved miracles and China's international standing had grown. But the most striking thing in his mission statement was ideological confidence. Recently Party media have talked of crisis and chaos in western democracies compared to strength and unity in China.

Without directly mentioning Trump, he noted how China had “taken a driving seat in international cooperation to respond to climate change”. He added: “Only by observing the laws of nature can mankind avoid costly blunders in its exploitation. Any harm we inflict on nature will eventually return to haunt us. This is a reality we have to face.”

they have 1 billion more people than the USA. They have some very progressive cities.
They love Fords and Buicks..
They will be buying a lot of our LNG.
We can make them a great trading partner if we can tweek a few things.

Yeah, they've been doing this for a good decade. China is smart enough to know that there's probably going to be a refugee crisis later this century, and they will be extremely well prepared if and when it does. I doubt Europe will be though if they don't start now.

The smartest move the Chinese are making is the building of islands on barrier reefs in the China Sea.
Every time they build a new island they get to claim waters 50 miles surrounding that island.
It greatly increases their trade routes will impeding everyone else's.

Your thoughts on China planning to build over 700 new coal plants in China and around the world?

Coal bad right? Or only when Donald Trump says it? Errrrr..

Chinese companies will build nearly half of it. Specifically, that means 700 new coal plants, with most to be built in China, and about a fifth outside the country, according to figures provided by Urgewald and reported by the New York Times:

Shocking, considering China doesn't have our diversity, which is "OUR STRENGTH".
They probably do crazy shite like promote the best-qualified person, regardless of race or gender.

Wait a second. Unlike the U.S. and Europe?
So, am I to believe that the U.S. has not used “aid, trade and foreign direct investment to strategically build goodwill”? So when the U.S. does it, it’s imperialism, or enriching corporations, or blood for oil, or meddling, or wasting taxpayer money, etc.
This article smacks of propaganda.

As well they should. The USA is unstable and at odds with itself. This signals weakness. Sun Tzu teaches to advance when your enemy is weak.

Going to be interesting to see the answer to the question of whether communism can be successful. It definitely has its benefits. Who the frick can tell what is actually going on in China with their ghost cities and massive theft of intellectual property. The whole thing is so manipulated.

China doesn’t cater to .0001% of the population.
Seems like they have actual goals that are benefiting the country than which bathroom someone uses.
Everyone in China also works nobody bitches and complains and sucks on the government their entire life.
What novel concepts.

China is going to pass us up so fast. I was just over there and was talking to a coworker about his son. His son is 9 years old, does 4 hours of homework a night, and is taking calculus. And that's not abnormal. Their 9 years olds are equivalent to like our 20 year olds.
