Benlysta is IV only and isnt as effective as Voc. Looks like GSK greased the wheels at the FDA a little better than AUPH in order to get first approval. We always knew Benlysta was out there.

So would you say nothing fundamentally has changed?
Why would this eliminate a buyout opportunity if Voclo. Is much more effective and is administered orally.

I don’t think anything has changed from a BO point of view. The licensing and manufacturing agreements are pretty standard. The 20% royalty agreement for Europe and Japan is on the high side but not out of the ordinary

So your making me thinking this is a buy opportunity.

I hope so. Just bought more

What’s the price point if somehow they don’t receive FDA approval? It sounds like the approval is imminent.

0...?
they have one drug and if it's not approved then I guess it's worth whatever cash they have on hand.

Bought another 500 shares this morning on the drop. If Benlysta got approved, VOC will certainly be approved.

FDA just approved Benlysta as the first drug for lupus nephritis.. which is AUPH's only bullet in the gun
I think this was expected. However, the advantage AUPH is believed to have is a better efficacy. Assuming they don't price themselves out of consideration they should be preferentially used as the gold standard for available care.

This guy on Stocktwits summed it up nicely.

One stock I'm adding to this morning is an old favorite, Aurinia Pharmaceuticals (AUPH) . There are two pieces of news impacting it. First is that GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has received approval for a competing drug. This drug is widely believed to be inferior to AUPH's Voclosporin and the news has been anticipated.
The second piece of news is that AUPH has partnered with a Japanese company for sales of Voclosporin outside the U.S. This isn't negative news, but it does decrease the chances that AUPH will be bought out soon.
AUPH has an FDA decision coming in late January, which is very likely to be positive. I am building my position as I expect positive anticipation to build for the approval of their blockbuster drug.

Just added 50 shares
Posted on 12/17/20 at 11:06 am to bayoubengals88
Sold 200 on Monday at 15.25 and bought back 200 at 13.50 this morning. holding 1000 shares now. AUPH has been really good for my retirement.

I should have waited to buy my lot today. Could have gotten a bigger discount. I am going to convert all shares in my IRA to a Roth if this is still beat down at the beginning of the year.

starting to worry about some frickery here
I can see the FDA shafting Aurinia to help out the product from the much larger GSK firm...
