8 episodes in. The trio that is the main cast is awesome.

I finished season one last night and had only two problems with it:
1. Hannah Gross as Debbie Mitford. A love interest for the main character already wasn't needed. Add in the fact that Hannah Gross is a sub-par actress with almost zero chemistry with Jonathan Groff and you've got yourself one of the show's few negatives. If this show is greenlit for a second season, I surely hope Gross doesn't pop back up. She was totally unnecessary and the part was horribly acted.
2. I was confused by the short BTK scenes. Perhaps if there is a season two those scenes will be given context, but it's almost like the show is building this guy up to be the ultimate baddie our trio of profilers will be chasing after. But because his scenes were so short they became unnecessary IMO.
Other than those two problems, I thought it was a very solid season of television. Easily 9/10 for me.

Them chasing Rader and catching him would be pretty far into the future. Wonder if the plan is to string along that storyline (him sending letters to the police) and capture him in the final season of the show.
Either way, this is a damn good show.

Kemper is the best of the bunch. The guy playing Bill is great too. I'm not sure why the big mystery w/ Bill's kid. The BTK thing is odd because they didn't catch that guy until much later and then when he screwed up by starting to taunt the cops again. Maybe he will be the case they can't solve at the end.

Great show. I'm almost done with the season. It took a couple of episodes to get used to the dialogue. It seemed at first almost like it was written for the stage.
But it's a brilliant show. The psychology behind is very detailed and interesting. It locks you in. Fantastic.

Really well done. The main complaint I have is there were several scenes where they were talking against background noise/music and if it weren’t for closed captioning the background noise would have won. It seemed like a conscious choice only I didn’t see the benefit/reasoning. And yes, that’s my main complaint so it’s a pretty damn good show.

I kept thinking Agent Ford was going to turn into one. Just his approach to all of it, his severe interest in the material, Debbie cheating on him, I kept thinking that was going to be the twist

So this is based off of John Douglas?

So is this supposed to be non fiction or fiction set In the real World With real life cases?

I wanted to watch last night but gf thought the trailer looked too gory/intense.

No doubt dramatic license has been taken, but it's based on a former FBI agent's book.
quote:
The series is based on the real-life work of former FBI Agent John Douglas' memoir, also titled Mindhunter. As one of the first criminal profilers, Douglas interviewed the likes of Charles Manson and the Son of Sam. His experiences have inspired movies like Silence of the Lambs.
In his book, he uses details from these interviews to sketch the personality of a serial killer. Many of the murderers he interviewed had similar backstories and cited similar motivations. Here's what we learned about serial killers while reading his book:

There is a dude that blows his head off with a shotgun but outside of that it's mostly crime scene photos. If you get to a point where you see a guy put a shotgun to his head close your eyes for a few seconds and you'll be fine.

Well, there ya go.
Figured as much. Read his books and have his FBI psych work. Good stuff

Read this book when I was a kid...but it’s not the material from the book
It’s interesting but the pacing is slow and there’s no payoff for your patience. It feels incomplete like they just cut it off and not in a cliff hanger kind of way
The lead is really stiff but otherwise I liked the casting

It was renewed for a 2nd season back in March/April. David Fincher gave NetFlix it's first hit in House of Cards so I'm thinking he knew early enough in the process that he would get a 2nd season. There was no Cliffhanger like you said, it just felt incomplete as if it was the first half of season 1.

the guy who played kemper was just freaking great and the stuff with BTK escalating in each episode just felt incomplete.
I also didn't like the shite with the principal. it wasn't as high minded as the writer or director thought.
