Brady didn't have a passer rating over 90 until his 4th full season starting.....
Not sure how all these coaches would have been drooling over his practices and pre-season if he was a backup those years.....
I think your thought is he'd have to be top notch to be noticed, but I just think if you're at the very least average, there will be teams lining up for your services.

There is literally nothing Brady does that Rodgers can't do, so Rodgers for sure

But he didn't. He was very pedestrian for his first two seasons
He was also in a power run offense that asked very little of it's QBs.
If you want me to rattle off the pure unadulterated shite that was playing QB at the turn of the century, I'm more than willing to. Someone would have taken a chance on him, same as someone taking a chance on James Harrison or Belichick trading draft capital for Wes Weller, who at that point really hadn't done much in the NFL.

Well I do know one was a first round draft pick and one wasn't. So I am taking Rodgers.

Really?
I'll have to look that up, but that offense was designed to ground and pound.

Brady has never been oursude the top 10 in passer rating his entire career and brady haters lo e to bring up the defense that helped him but always seem to forget the runny pooh he had for recievers. The first time and arguably last tume the guy had a top 5 reciever in the league he broke pretty much every passing record and nearly went 19-0. I mean c'mon guys he's hands down a top 10 qb of all time. This shouldn't even be a debate of course he would olay at other places

You're right.
shite he was tied for 9th overall on passer rating in his first full year being a starter. at that shite argument he wasn't topping 90. Outside of once in a generation prospects, everyone would be pumped for their second year starter to be in the top ten passer rating.
Poor David Carr getting slaughtered. I always forget just how often he was sacked during his career.

Jimmy G has looked great in a few games, and was a 2nd round pick. So he is getting interest as a backup
22 year old Brady was a 6th rounder, in our hypothetical he is a backup, and we already know he was not great at this time to "shine in those preseason games."
I am not saying he still wouldnt have made it, but the notion that if another team draft him, he might not have become anything special, is very plausible in Bradys case.

I think a big part of it is most people in this part of the country dislike the pats

Brady was a 6th round draft pick. If Bledsoe doesnt go down, he likely never becomes Brady....
That is a good point. When Brady took over for Bledsoe in early 2001, no one would have predicted that Brady would become the QB he is today. He was a diamond in the rough at the time. If Bledsoe stays healthy, who knows what eventually happens to Brady. Kurt Warner is another QB that fits into the same category as Brady. If Favre remains the GB QB into 2008 or beyond, Rodgers would have been given an opportunity somewhere else.

you don't know what kind of NFL qb Rodgers was at 21 since he was sitting the bench so he may have been just like brady
Brady was 24 when he became a starter
Rodgers was 25.......
We dont know how either of them would have been at 21......

quote:has been talked about alot as a starter. You realize that the guy that was behind him even in New England is a starter in the league now Right? So even if your 3rd string and can play you'll get noticed. This is even more evidence against your case. The only reason Jimmy g isn't traded is because they know he's good and they know brady has a very short shelf life

Also why are you not mentioning how much Better of an offense Rodgers had tham brady when they both became starters

If the OP is saying at 21 and assuming you don't know how their careers play out, you take Rodgers easily as he was a more highly touted prospect.
But if you get to know how their careers go, you still take Rodgers but it's at least somewhat more in question than scenario 1.

Well you wanted a specific time in their career and based off what was known at that specific time I take Rodgers, as did some others.
