Why is it pathetic? The entire Greek system is being castigated and punished for the actions of these few.

It’s an internet message board. Can we not discuss things like maybe the minor distinction that the actions of this misfit few don’t represent the entirety of the Greek system?

Please explain to me why and how that is pathetic. Thanks .

safe to assume that these "outcasts" finally acquired social influence, something theyve never experienced before, and just took it too far.

quite sad really.

I'd say that's spot on.

bottom tier fraternity full of castoffs and misfits who didn’t get bids from other fraternities.

Sweet.

Based on this and your other posts you must be no more than 20 years old and still living in the fantasy world that is most of college, a adult with this mindset would be pathetic a best.

I can tell you didn't get a bid back in college. You still mad, brah?

The cast-offs are the kids who can't socialize/awkward in a general sense.

So the people who can socialize get into good frats?

Why the need to buy friends if you’re good at socializing?

Damn, just saw on Twitter that 10 charged with hazing and one with negligent homicide

One student dead and the ten responsible have lives that are essentially over. What a waste.

9 of those guys will serve probation, likely transfer schools. Their lives aren't "over" by getting a misdemeanor.

But they will have to live with the consequences. A misdemeanor charge for hazing that caused a death is a whole lot different than the misdemeanor you get for going 50 in a 35 down Highland Road!

No. He was an 18 year old who was directed to drink shots of Everclear every time he missed a chapter trivia question by the actives in charge. It's 190 proof grain alcohol. After two shots he's well on his way to being drunk. After 4? 6? Who knows. This was not social, casual drinking.

I am a huge proponent of personal responsibility when drinking - I love Louisiana's laws that protect bartenders - but this is a different situation. Shooting Everclear can make you go from stone-cold sober to comatose in a much quicker time span than drinking too many gin & tonics. Whoever thought this was a good idea deserves to think about it for 7 years in prison.

He still made the decision to drink the everclear. He could have said no.

Because parties and food and shite cost money? Do GDI's just get all of their drinks for free at Fred's?

He's probably a loser who always hated the idea of Greek life and was never accepted into that culture.

Anyone who was actually in a fraternity (at a large school) understands that there is a huge variation of qualities when it comes to fraternities and sororities. No two are the same and the quality of guys/girls varies greatly.
