Argentina may not come out of CONMEBOL... they face Ecuador at 6:30 (central time) really needing to win (which may not be enough if Peru wins its match too, and by a wider margin... a draw could get them there with a Peru loss... but then Paraguay could slip in front of both of them with a win)

The Dutch have an even harder road to traverse to come out of UEFA. They face Sweden at 1:45 (central time)... needing to not just beat the Swedes... but beat them by A LOT (like 7 goals... yes... seven)

A couple of powerhouses (they faced each other in the 2014 WC semifinals... a 0-0 draw that ARG won in PKs) that look to be on the outside looking in to the World Cup

Expecting a dogdgy penalty to be given if it looks like Argentina won't advance.

That's wrong. Argentina is assured of a spot in the playoffs if they win. They can qualify directly with a win with other scenarios

Win: Guaranteed at least a playoff, and will go through automatically if Chile fail to beat Brazil or if Peru-Colombia is a draw.
Draw: Even a draw at already-eliminated Ecuador could send them straight to the finals if there is a winner in Peru vs. Colombia (though Colombia would have to lose by two goals), Chile lose by two goals and Paraguay fail to win.
Lose: Miraculously they could still make the playoffs if they lose to Ecuador, but only if Peru are beaten by a greater margin and Paraguay fail to win.

Argentina, but I'm sure they'll get into the playoffs and drop 6 or 7 on NZ.

They should hold these elimination type games in La Paz, irrespective of host. Would make it more interesting

I'm somewhat disappointed Wales didn't go through. They were so fun to watch at the Euros.

Monumental night for Chile. If they don’t at least tie, it marks the official end of the golden generation.

2 World Cup Round of 16s, 2 Copa America Titles and a Confederations Cup Final. Bested Ronaldo and Messi. Even made Messi retire from international duty. I think these guys have a little left in the tank and will make Russia 2018. Expecting a hard fought tie tonight. No Vidal is going to make things very tough though.
