But, if you think we're going to run the interstate highway system or mechanized agriculture/feed 7 billion people without oil, you're crazy.

Everybody should be growing food instead of manicured lawns.

It'd be an amazing thing to see and would have dramatic effects on the world.

Remember the good ole days when most people were subsistence farmers? Yeah.... the malnutrition, the disease, the one out of four kids who made it out of childhood alive, the average lifespan of 36. What a wonderful world it would be.

Growing food instead of manicured lawns? You do realize most people are lazy fricks that will not do what is necessary to have a garden. Who is gonna protect your "garden"? I guarantee your shite is gonna get picked before u pick it. What about all the fertilizer and pesticide runoff? Most people over spray everything.

I have a 2.5 acre garden at the farm. Plus I usually have another 5 acres in a pea patch and 6 acres of silver queen corn.

When it starts producing I cannot keep up with the canning. I probably give away 50-60%. I only plant so much because I have the room and if something gets bugs or something I have enough else to keep my busy.

People don't realize just how much a person can grown in a garden.

This. It would be a slow transition & we'd have to prepare by becoming self sufficient on a community level & people would have to get off their arses and contribute... no more drive throughs and no more hand-outs.
