My custody trial was today. we had been rescheduled so many time my lawyer said screw it and booked the only judge who's ever avail because no one likes him doing their custody case.

Ex wife argued that she should have primary and I should get 4-6 days a month because I play video games and yell sometimes and she takes parenting SERIOUSLY and doesn't play video games at her house.

Judge gets to his ruling and starts talking about how he's 52 and plays minecraft with his kids so much they complain he's hogging the console, says it's awesome i play mario and zelda with the kid, orders shared 50/50 custody.

Congrats man, that's awesome.

One of my girlfriend's coworkers is in his 50's now, and is recently divorced. He still plays video games with his 30 year old daughter when she comes to visit. It's how they connect. The stigma around video games is slowly going away.

Glad you got a male judge and not a female judge.

Playing minecraft with my 2 daughters is a highlight of my life right now.

It's special for a lot of reasons.

I just need the Better Together update to hit the switch already.

Congrats man, loved reading that outcome.

That’s awesome for you man.

I own my kids in Halo and CoD but I have no idea what one doing in battlefront and Minecraft. I refuse to Minecraft with them any more.

I caught myself saying “in my day when we ran out of Legos, that was the end, we didn’t just keep making stuff.” Haven’t picked it up since.

My son (6) and I play games together a lot. We also play separately a lot because his mother and I are no longer together. It is a great connection between us, allowing for competition and cooperative play.
I find video games to be a tool (supposing you're not playing Doom and Resident Evil with a 6 yr old) to teach lots of lessons. In fact many of the games we have played have helped him find a desire to read. He partially learned to read playing Mario and other Nintendo games, his first books he chose were Pokémon or Mario related.

Basically I see gaming as a past time, and at times a mindless one (nothing wrong with that) but other times a way to connect with a child and help them grow.

I'm happy for you man, but it's unfortunate that custody is so imbalanced we're celebrating 50-50
