I think that's pretty incredible. How do you think they got there do fast in such a huge building? Fire alarm tip them off?

Smoke alarm in the room from the gunfire told the hotel staff which room it was.
This isn't hard.

I’ve read that the broken windows triggered an alarm in the hotel that notifies security where the break is. Haven’t seen that confirmed but it would make sense

Was there an alarm when he broke the window too? Thought I heard/read that.

Someone on here said yesterday some kind of alarm goes off when a window is broken.

I tend to think it was the wounded Hotel Security Guard who called in the location. And some of the concert PD presence on assignment nearby. But that's just my opinion.

I saw on Fox news from a former LV Police officer that the broken glass landed near the valet parking area and the valet staff could see and hear the gun fire up above. They alerted security.

I think the security guard went to investigate the alarms and calls from nearby rooms and is who likely ended any hopes the shooter had for his "escape plan." Guard then communicated with police who assembled team.
My theory, anyway.

Incorrect
A guest who was retired military was on the 31st floor and called it in that the gun fire was coming from the floor directly above him. A security guard went directly to that floor and the police started at floor 25 instead of the first floor .

It wouldn't be hard for someone on the ground to simply count the floors up to the broken windows and know the floor it was coming from.

Someone is rapid firing rounds from an elevated position, I'm not taking the time to count floors.

Security guard alerted and the smoke alarm went off.

You're kidding right? What someone was just standing out in the open under fire counting windows until the got to the broken windows?
Idiot, the hotel passed a tip onto police, that's how they zeroed in on the correct floor so quickly.

12 minutes is a fairly long time. Just sayin

I thought the gunshots rained down for way longer than that?

I thought there was already several police officers in the building for something completely unrelated. I’m not sure if these were the cops that went up to the 32nd floor.

They did. You should listen to the police scanner from that night and you will understand why.

I can't imagine under what possible "plan" he wouldn't think they would be able to figure out pretty quickly, which room he was shooting from.
