Probably been covered, but it has come up again in light of recent events and gun grabber rhetoric
Who wins?
US Military - 2 million
Roughly 60 millions households have at least one weapon. Over 300 million registered gun in civilian hands
ETA: it is unlikely to ever happen, and I hope it doesn't

I don't believe this. They have some things, like full auto, available that most civilians don't. But I would bet many of the civilian owned AR's are light years ahead of the average lowest bidder Military AR.

Many of the country bumpkins you speak of are former military. Not to mention in the scenario posed, many current Military would jump ship

So many unknown variables to really know. If it's straight up Military vs Civilians then the military would roll over civilians worse than the Iraqi military. In reality though, some significant portion of the military would defect and other countries would get involved with support for civilians and troops of their own.
