If I’m not mistaken, the military guys learn all their fighting from pro fighting techniques. At least that’s how Army combatives was. It was just basic MMA stuff like grappling, mounts, basic chokes, etc.
In other words, the pro fighter would whip that arse.

Pro fighter with ease. If weapons like knives were involved then that's a whole different story. I doubt a navy seal does much hand to hand fighting in the field.

SOF don't do that much H2H unless they're just interested in it and do it on their own time. Too much other shite to train for and not enough hours in the day. if bad guys ever get close enough you have to fight them barehanded, something went bad wrong.

I'm just messing with you because I have friends that went through basic training in the 80s and worked with a kid that just got out. Night and day difference...
The seal wins because he's likely stronger, in better condition, and also trains in mma. It's part of their training fyi.

I'll go with a Killer Whale.

quote:That's horrible logic. What you are saying is the equivalent of taking an iron man athlete and training him for 50 hours (about 3 weeks) in basketball and matching him up against an NBA player.

It makes no fricking sense. Nobody on Earth would pick the iron man athlete, yet people for some reason think Navy SEALs, who only have 50 hours of MMA training, can beat a pro fighter because they think they are super heroes or something.

I’m pretty sure Jocko addresses this question specifically. Couldn’t find it searching.
What I recall, is something like an MMA guy would definitely win an MMA fight, but any street fight (no rules) or improvised weapon situation would be different. The MMA guy still has a huge advantage in grappling or hand to hand combat.

Stronger how? Cause mma guys who look like slobs are very strong on the ground (mma guys will understand that) and when the mma takes the seal down the seal will likely blow all his air trying to get out.
And while seals train in mma it's a small part of their overall training....
Basically a seal would beat an mma fighter in a 'seal fight' and an mma guy would beat a seal in a 'street fight'.

The SEAL because everything they're about is operating as boat teams and the SEAL that the pro fighter doesn't see because he's too focused on the one in front of him will kill him until he is dead. A SEAL isn't getting into a street fight alone. That's part of the whole "smart and operate as a team" thing.
If you're going to restrict the SEAL from doing SEAL things in this fight, then I'm going to insist that the MMA fighter not be able to use MMA moves. See, I can make stupid restrictions on the rules, too.
Now, if you just plop the SEAL in front of the MMA fighter and don't let him use the tools, teamwork, and tactics he's trained to be able to use, then yeah, the MMA fighter is going to smoke him.
This is a stupid question. It should feel at home on the OT.

I saw a drunk Air Force enlisted kid beat a drunk SEAL to a pulp outside a bar, it was around 1980, the AF kid had been a Golden Gloves champion. I would bet on the professional fighter every time.

This ain't an action movie. I bet 99% of the special forces who have seen action/gone on missions have never engaged in any hand-to-hand combat.
So my answer: a real-life seal would lose. A "movie/tv seal" who is on a mission with Tom Cruise or Jason Statham would take out 10 pro fighters in a restaurant while waiting on their dinner entree to arrive.

This.... and I am taking NOTHING away from seals.... but a straight up hand to hand fight... the guy who trains 100% of the time to fight straight up will likely win.....

Pro boxer would lose.

Lol this is the dumbest question ever and anyone who doesn't say pro fighter, assuming we are talking UFC-Bellator level pro, knows nothing about fighting
Posted on 9/29/17 at 6:29 pm to Hawgnsincebirth55
SEALs can fight, but pro fighters ONLY fight. It wouldn’t even be close.
