re: How much child support should I expect to pay?Posted on 9/29/17 at 1:38 pm to ZeekFreak quote: wrong.... way more if she has full About 95% of the answers in this thread are wrong, yours included. You can find the monthly AGI and support amounts here.
i just went through the entire process in the LA court system.......... IDK how i can be sooooo wrong especially when i've been told multiple times I came out as well as i possibly could. Regardless. 50/50 was most important, the numbers are the numbers though

There are things like daycare that may come into play, but otherwise, the numbers are there for anyone who is interested. The custodial parent can ask for an increase if they are caring for the child for more than the agreed upon time, much like the non-custodial parent can ask for relief if they're caring for the child for more than their initial allotted time.

so my kids mom made 38,500 and i made 61,500 at the time. Court ordered me to pay right under a 1,000 based off of the formula the court uses to generate the number based off of income. So a guy that makes basically double of me would be asked to pay the same?
i find that very hard to believe. I have 50/50 now and still pay more than 500
Using those numbers for one child in LA, the child support guideline would be $1,057/month. She would pay 38.5% ($407) to you if you had custody, or you'd pay 61.5% ($650) to her if she had custody. You can work out a deal for more or less, and you can certainly ask for more or less, but that's the standard.

Quit job.
Work for minimum wage.
Ask for alimony.

be prepared for $1200-$1300 a month plus keeping little one on your insurance plus kid showing up all the time in old clothes that dont fit plus kid always asking you for money that will actually be going to mommmy
Sounds about right. OP try and get 50/50 custodian which will help ease the pain. Make sure to document everything you spend on the child, medical insurance, etc. and if you haven't started already, keep a journal and document everything. This can go a long way in court in the future. I can't stress the journal enough.

^ this and most importantly, don't skimp on the lawyer. You get what you pay for.

there is nothing a court can do if a parent moves out of state with the child they have custody of.
The court could hold her in contempt if she takes the child and cant meet visitation obligations

Oh I know this but at least the money won't be going into her pocket. My ex is fricked when I'm done with child support cause I don't know how she's going to afford her lifestyle after that $1000/mo is not there. Not my problem though

Sure they could, and she could be arrested if she ever came back to that state, and I mean theoretically she COULD be arrested out of state as well, but there is little to no chance of anyone being arrested and extradited for contempt of court.
Meaning nothing will be done in practical terms.

I have a friend who's paying $7500 a month in child support. Complete money making idiot got his arse handed to him by the judge. Makes well over $500K a year, didn't lawyer up, represented himself, admitted to doing blow on a stripper to the judge....and had an apartment on the side at $4000 a month that his wife didn't know about (where he was doing the stripper.) Wife also took his boat, custom motorcycle, Corvette and house. Again, complete idiot.

Typically, you can bang all the strippers you want without it impacting child support. Spousal support may be another story.
Sounds like your friend got the life he wanted, so it all works out.

Will they child attend private school? That's even more additional money.

The kid is probably freaked out now after reading all this. He should have a nice weekend.

I glanced to see how much I would have to pay with 5 kids and all I can say is my wife is getting a steak dinner, massage and I'm going to screw her brains out tonight.

I figure roughly 1,750, out of your pocket, after taxes, every month for the next 16 years.
If you think you don't care for her now, waut until you get the final bill for everything you are going to pay her till your kid graduates HS.....
Try roughly $336,000 AFTER tax dollars you will be paying her.
Oh...and don't forget...if Jr goes to college you get half of those costs and if he/she still lives with Momma you could still be paying her child support until the child is 21 in some states.
Don't shoot the messenger....
