Just getting back into playing Fallout: New Vegas, and the reviews for 4 look good. I'm not much into gaming anymore, or spending money on it, but 4 is cheap enough now that I'd consider it.

Should I go ahead and pick it up? I know Reddit seems to hate it, or at least have mixed views, but I'm loving this reply of New Vegas, so I'd love to check it out if it's really worth it.

Couple notes: I mainly play Shadow of Mordor, Dishonored (1), NCAA 14, KOTOR, New Vegas, Witcher 3, Black Flag, and Forza, so you have an idea of what I'm into.

I didn't enjoy it as much as new vegas or 3, but it's an incredibly good game.

It's the only Fallout game I've ever played and I loved it. One of my favorite games ever honestly. I don't understand the hate.

Fallout 4 GOTY Edition just released. Most of the DLC, I hear, is pretty meh. I personally only have Far Harbor and I've been impressed so far even though the setting is very drab at times. Nuka Cola World is also ok from what I hear. So if you decide to go with 4, that bundle might be worth looking into.

New Vegas is by far the best Fallout game IMO. I've played it twice already, and I want to play it again.

Fallout 4 is a good game, but it is very slow paced to the point to where it just gets boring. The factions are nowhere near as interesting as the ones in New Vegas.

It's a good game, but not as good as 3 or Vegas. The best description I've heard of it so far is Fallout: Skyrim.

FO4 is a fine game. one of my favorites.

I went overboard with settlement building. its really in depth and rewarding when done right

even ignoring that aspect, exploring Boston was really cool and the environment is well done

4 is good, but the DLC was weak in comparison to previous entries.

Mods are great, go for them.

If you like building, it has an element other games did not - so it has that going for it. Also your protagonist is voiced, unlike before. The main story is good, some of the side ones are good, but New Vegas has the better overall stories and such, so it will feel weaker than that.

Think of a lighter, prettier New Vegas.

Bumping with an update. I got it a couple days ago and booted it up about 2 hours ago.

I really like the combat, and the story seems interesting so far, but I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing with this settlement I started with the first minuteman group. I built beds and water pumps but I'm lost on how the building system works. It looks like I can make a whole building, but I'm not sure.

Also can't find any food to grow; do I just need to explore and find some?

Finally, I have a load of useless shite in my inventory that I'd like to be able to sell, and I haven't found a merchant anywhere.

It's shiney. But not up to par with 3 or NV. But maybe I'm just jaded now that I have played so much of the Fallout Series.

I started a replay of new Vegas with mods and it's way better than 4
