"Lack of depth" Narrative by the Media
Posted on 9/23/17 at 8:27 am
Posted on 9/23/17 at 8:27 am
This narrative was started on Tuesday by our local media to cover for their boy O. They did it to save face from the comments Marcus Spears made about how this program is in the hole. They didn't want it to fall squarely on Os shoulder. Basically they are pushing the blame off of O and onto the previous regime. They even went far enough as to blame Chavis for the "lack of defensive depth".
In all likelyhood this was started by Panampski (sp.) given to Culotta and run from there. This is absolutely false and we as LSU fans should not give into it.

We have no depth on the O Line because dudes left the team.
Why?
Why?

But the program is in a deep hole.

Mississippi state has a total of 1 five star on their team and 14 4 stars. Based on 247
Where are their lack of talent arguments?

It is a setup to shift the blame. Lack of talent is complete nonsense and the commencement of excuses to justify potential poor coaching and losses for the next 2 seasons.
Players leave teams because of lack of opportunity, really bad coaches that instill no confidence (player thinks coaches have no clue) or they were looked in the face then lied to by the coaches.
Been seeing it on a ground level for years big time in high school then also with college players. The lack of complete honesty and understanding of the game with most coaches would astonish us.

Ponamsky is a felon. So I wouldn't be surprised if Little Goerbels started this propaganda.
Orgeron is a typical corrupt south Louisiana politician.

Is it true or not? are we hiding a bunch of players?

O was in charge of recruiting. He also came in and decided to change the culture of the team and like it or not it ran off half the dline and oline depth. It's similar to what he did to Valentine last season. Kid was playing and the second O took over we never see the kid again. Fact is he was in charge when these guys bailed.
WR is a different story but it's hard for me to believe that Gage is one of our 2 best WR's. It seems like Canada can only use shifty guys in his offense and can't seem to find a spot for the 6'4" guy.

Having 1 five star is different than having depth. Gilmore and Lac played all but one series against Mississippi st. We have to face the fact we don't have depth in important positions.

LSU’s 2 deep on both lines are vastly more talented than MSUs. We can stop using that excuse for why we lost by 30.

If you think O deserves 3 years to "get his guys in here" then go ahead. I won't stop you. But our lack of depth on the lines, especially D Line, is not something O can blame on Miles without taking any responsibility.
He was the recruiting coordinator under Miles and then was HC while a ton of guysleft the program and/or couldn't qualify for the program on time to play their FR year.

LSU fans are so dumb.
We have one player on the 2nd string OL that isn't a Freshman
We have five eligible DL that are on scholarship playing tonight.
But the "depth problem" is just a media fabrication.
I swear, sometimes I actually question whether some of you guys actually watch football.

What are “Os guys?” He has no offensive or defensive schemes. His schemes are completely reliant on his coordinators, so “his guys” are going to depend on who our OC and DC want, which is a major issue with hiring somebody that is completely reliant on both their coordinators. What happens when Canada or Aranda leave in 2 years? Does Orgeron get another three years to get the right guys in because his new OC or DC runs a different scheme?

See, I realize depth is a problem.
The problem I have is with running off the players that caused this problem.

The five OL that left under O's watch are called "non-SEC players."
Wrong.
They may never have been "SEC stars" or even "SEC starters," but they were bonafide SEC-caliber backups i.e. "Depth."
So if you want to push the"lack of depth" narrative ...
Place the blame on the guy under whose watch five OL transferred out.
What in the hell is going on inside this program?

There is a difference between depth and experience. This team just doesnt have that much experience. We have a decimated o and dline.why? Because Miles recruited centers on oline and moved them to G or T. O is trying to get legit G & T. Same on DLine...Chavis never recruited DT...he only wanted LB and Raymond got the DB. We have 13 DB on scholarship and less that 6 DT and 7 OLinemen....its not Os fault

Which shows something too - he was an unemployed DL coach when Miles hired him.
If he was so great after being turned down by USC, he would have walked right into another job at least as a DC let alone a DL coach over a year later.
LSU took it on the cheap and it was never a real search. The hiring process was a fraud especially considered it lasted over a full year of consideration.
Do not fall for this lack of talent BS. LSU has talent and there is no reason not to win at least 8 games this season. LSU got 4 rent a win games and better be able to at least break even in the other 8 games. Break even is mediocre in the SEC and nothing even justifies that result.
