Silly Catholics, St. Louis isn't the king, Trump is

Alello is the fricking man. I love that guy. He's the best man to transition for sure.

Beasted on some cucks in quiz bowl back in the day there, sad.

Not many priests have been able to get the youth involved more than him.
His presence at CHS is invaluable

Dan Borné, a spokesman for the diocese, also said Sacred Heart Catholic School on the outskirts of downtown serves north Baton Rouge students.

Well the Catholic Church doesn't display much interest in solving the priest shortage so whatcha gonna do. Let them get married and the numbers will increase.
So much this. This would also likely greatly decrease instances of child molestation. You have to be kinda a weird guy to want to go into a profession which demands celibacy and forbids fathering children. Every man has those desires inside of them and demanding that they be rejected is not only cruel, but has little basis in scripture.

Prayers sent (literally).

Priestly Celibacy has no basis in scripture and wasn't even a rule in the Catholic Church until 1139. It boggles my mind that it won't change this policy. This wouldn't solve the priest shortage but it sure would help.

Damn
So that’s St Isidore, Redempt and St Louis closing in a close time frame.....
St Francis Xavier is surviving on vouchers.

Agreed. He's a real guy. He loves whiskey and bullshitting. He's not some weirdo who you know has never experienced a single thing of interest in life.

Thank God Meunch is retiring this year. This and Redemptorist closing fall squarely on his shoulders. Although with this pope, I'm not hopeful for a better replacement.

There are preachers on every corner, but not ministers who spent 7-9 years studying philosophy and theology. The priesthood is brutal, and as someone who knows priests and those studying to be priests, I would never put a wife and family through that.
The Church would have to make some major changes for married priests that would cause more problems than it would solve in my opinion. For instance, good luck paying a man with a family to feed what they make now.
I also have met married priests (Anglican converts) who are very against the idea. It kills their family. Working hours for a priest are basically the exact times fathers and husbands are expected to be home.

Most common child molestors are biological fathers of children... So... Not true at all.

Likely a casualty of location. Nobody wants to drive to NBR anymore
It's not a great neighborhood, but that's not what I would consider North BR.

Here is a lengthy read on celibacy
And then read up on how 30% of abusers are family members and a study of rape survivors under age 12 reported 20% were their fathers.

This also brings an end to one of BRs finest recreational softball leagues (and field).
Were they still playing there? I used to play there in the summers when I was younger, but I thought they shut those leagues down in the late 90s.

North Sherwood near Choctaw. It may as well be because it has all of the same problems

Though the parish is merging with St. Thomas More, he said STM's school is not large enough to accommodate all of the St. Louis King of France schoolchildren.
STM is more worried about maintining their Blue Ribbon status vs adding 250+ students (most of them vouchers).
