Heard on WWL Radio this morning, no link available.

Not the 50,000 employee headquarters... just a good ole fashioned Amazon Distribution center. We don't have any in LA currently.

They said Amazon is currently in site selection process. Will bring several hundred good jobs whereever it ends up.

I wonder where it will go?

I wonder if those nearby will be able to get Amazon same day service.

Cottonport is the obvious choice.

Probably Hammond if I had to guess, near the intersection of 55 and 12.

Wal Mart went in that area.

They should put it in BTR. The airport could certainly handle the traffic.

It will be next to an airport for sure.

They built one in Columbia, SC right next to the airport

Yes, it's the reason we started paying sales tax on most items the beginning of the year.

While I'd love to see it built at BTR, I assume Lafayette would get it. More centrally located & they have established UPS and Fedex air service. BTR has neither.

Got one of those about 20 mins north of where I'm at. It takes 12 Mississippi to drive past it at 70 on the highway it's huge.

Would the Hammond/Ponchatoula area make sense? Proximity to both Baton Rouge and New Orleans, access to both I-12 and I-55. It seems like property could be obtained at a lower price than BR, NOLA, or Lafayette. Lack of a major airport could be an issue, but it's only about 45 minutes to MSY.

ETA: Walmart already has a distribution center in Hammond.

They will avoid putting one in Louisiana due to our inventory taxes. They will instead likely put one in Beaumont, TX and one in Woodville, MS.

The State should do EVERYTHING possible to make this happen. I wish BR was in the picture. Huge economic impact. This SHOULD be in news 24x7.

they will have these in every state, there are 2, with another one being built in st.louis metro.

they want tto be able to get shite out, after being ordered in 1 day, with some stuff being same day.

that is their ultimate plan, same day delivery.
