SWB doing something right.

Mayor Sharon Weston Broome has hired outside attorney Mary Olive Pierson to handle the issue. Pierson last month filed suit in the 19th Judicial District Court to rescind the sale based on lesion, a principle in the state civil code that gives a seller one year to recover a piece of land if it was sold for less than half of the fair market value.
I'm not a fan of MOP, but its good to see the mayor isn't going to duck this issue.
Sure, we gave up the store and some people were willingly or unwillingly asleep at the switch, but the law provides relief and its good to see Mayor Broome choosing to make things right for the parish.

Daily Report first wrote about the land sale in July. Ryan Heck, then a councilman, introduced a measure to the Metro Council last year to declare the piece of land surplus, sending it to auction. The council unanimously approved the move and Cosman—Heck’s friend and a campaign contributor—was the only person to show up to auction. He bought the property for $10,000.

I actually agree with this.

I'd have rather hired Joe Pesci playing his character in My Cousin Vinny over Mary Olive Pearson. But I applaud the City Parish for this move.

I criticized her about that too.
Unfortunately she stayed on the sidelines, and let the COA get away with everything.

Look at the color of those who benefited to find your answer.

well that was the point, I'm all for getting after corruption but it raises an eyebrow when she doesn't even acknowledge the shenanigans over at the COA.

Let's all cheer for someone doing what they are supposed to do.

Let's recognize them when they do something right and criticize when they do something wrong.

Was it not an advertised and open auction? One could easily argue that is was purchased at market price. He was not outbid, therefore it sold at market price.
If they are going to take this route then they need to change the rules. No more auctions, or auctions with reserves.

Even a broke clock is right twice a day.
But I just realized something.
The two biggest problems in Louisiana go by the initials SWB and S&WB
