Half a dozen BBQ places listed, and not a single one is The Pit Room.
Not legit.
Not legit.

Also, I've eaten at Tony's a couple times. Pretty good for sure, but DaVinci in Cinco Ranch deserves a spot on that list before Tony's.

Hoggs n chicks deserves a spot based on the fried chicken alone.

I did not even open the link when you said The Pit Room was not listed. What's the world coming too!!!

My first sample, when I failed to specify lean or fatty, was forbiddingly dry and depressing. (A small sample from the fatty side was far better.) The sliced brisket sandwich another day sang; but a dinner order the next week produced fatty-side slices that glistened with an off-putting iridescent sheen, along with lean-side slices so dry I could only manage a bite or two before giving up. Granted, it was 7:15 p.m., a time when most barbecue spots aren't even open. But still.
Sometimes, too, the exciting ideas for sides and accessories run afoul of a tendency to overseason. The scratch-made charro beans could be great if they weren't so ferociously hot. (I like hot chiles as much as the next person, but it is possible to overdo, and The Pit Room overdoes.)
The much-talked about chopped brisket taco on one visit was so aggressively salty I couldn't enjoy it, and the flour tortilla made with beef fat was on the leaden side, translucent with grease. It's one of those ideas that sounds captivating but is hard to pull off
Allison and I have had much different experiences.

This may sound weird, but the one time we went to Hogs and Chicks, we weren't that impressed. And the reason we went is because it's owned by the same people who run Live Oak Grill, which me, the wife, and the kids enjoy.
But I didn't get the fried chicken. Maybe that's what we should do.

Oh wow! I've been to #3 Coltivare. I would never pick that place but my son and daughter-in-law live close by and they are young and hip so I tagged along.
Food was delicious but the restaurant was VERY loud and I don't typically wait for an hour at any restaurant. I'm old and not hip!

I've been twice. The first time, I'd agree with leaving it off. The second time, I'd put it near the top.
Maybe the voters caught it on that off night. Inconsistency should dock you some points.

From the list I've done about 30 of these and have some thoughts. I think Uchi is better than Kata Robata, BNC is crazy high on the list, Etoile is underrated. Bernie's Burger Bus is good but insists on everything being sweet and spicy, leave the sweet if I don't want it. Xochi is fantastic and far better than Caracol but I can't see it as #1.

Good Dog cracked the top 30? Is this lady fricking serious?

common bond is a pretty glaring omission too

I don't understand how Irma's makes these lists. Also Pi Pizza is just okay....Bollo on West Alabama is probabaly tied with Coltivare for my favorite pizza in Houston. I'd rather Luna, CRISP, and Cane Russo than Pi.

What am I missing from there?

The menu used to be pretty interesting, changed every week, then the chef that opened it rolled out of town and Carrabba's owns it now. It's fine for baked goods, luckily they hardly ever run out of things now that they have an offsite bakery.
I live a few blocks away and go to Brasil 9/10 before going Common Bond.

I need to check out brasil. I have never had bad meal or even an ok meal at Common Bond. I also appreciate that it is well run, I was in and out 30 minutes even with a really long line.
