Does every trip have to be between Europe and Disney? Do you think little kids would really appreciate Europe?

Why not just go to the beach instead of a giant landlocked theme park filled with gross people and a thousand screaming kids?

I am genuinely curious. To each his own though.

I hate crowds and roller coasters, so I'd rather bring my kids to the mountains or beach or somewhere new like Utah/Canada instead of doing that shite.

Disney World is my nightmare.

i dont get it either. maybe i'm getting too old for the international plane hopping but there's alot of be said for packing a few bags & driving a few hours to WDW and having a great relaxing time without the hassles that come from dealing with customs and multiple flights and trains and weirdo hotel rooms without hot water.

i'll take disney pampering of my family over that nightmare any day of the week.

i've done both. had a blast dragging my kids to every national park in utah..an AMAZING trip i'll never forget..but disney is also just as enjoyable. its all in how you plan it.

I sure as shite did.

I mean, not as a toddler, I didn't know what was going on, but as an elementary school kid I did.

We went a bunch. My mom was an Au Pair in France in college and is a French teacher, so we had a large emphasis on doing stuff like that.

But other trips were to places like Quebec, Banff, etc. We also did Seaside every summer and while not cheap, I'm sure its on par with Disney World and you get to go to the beach every day.

To each his own though.

ETA:

I am just very grateful we did all of that growing up instead of Disney. But I inherited my hatred of crowds (minus sporting events) and roller coasters from my parents I think.

have you travelled overseas with kids lately??

its a fricking nightmare. i avoid airlines and check-in lines like the plague unless work forces me to go overseas.

its not the same experience you had growing up to travel these days.

when's the last time you've flown internationally?

at least at wdw you get to go on the pirates of the caribbean ride after you get to the end of the line.

OTers rejoice that they get to continue to max out their credit cards and pay interest for the next 5 years on a vacation to overpriced Disney World

You're a loser if you don't have small children and you go to Disney World.

Going with your kids is one thing, but there's way too many grown men on this site that have a word obsession with a theme park.

It's neat and if you haven't been I wouldn't tell you not to go, but it's not something to get your rocks off about.

Bring the family to Europe? Nah, I'll spend just as much to visit Orlando.

I've lived in Europe.

Gimme a family vacation to WDW over that any day. Going again next year

No, and I concede Europe isn't the best alternative to Disney, it was just an example to demonstrate the ridiculous cost of Disney and still to be in Orlando.

I'm going to bring my kids white water rafting and hiking. Or on deep sea fishing charters, etc. shite I did growing up that I still cherish.

I remember my big sister at age like 12 flying out the raft on the Nantahala and she floated like a mile downstream and was waiting for us on a bank smiling

That's like waiting in line to get a root canal to me

I've been skydiving and enjoyed it, but I hate roller coasters. Get nauseous and don't find them that thrilling for some reason.

I agree with this.

I am happy people are at least spending a bunch of money in our economy on travel and leisure. Means we're doing well.

I don't ever mean to come off like people are idiots for going there. People probably think I'm an idiot for spending a ton of money on golf trips

Everybody enjoys what they enjoy.
