Guess I'd say 2 things to answer your question.
1. Comparing MSU "fans" to folks who post on message boards is like comparing LSU fans to posters here. It's a subset of a subset. I have MSU fans, alums, ticket holders in my extended family. What they say about MSU football and what the average "grinder" here will about their team and program is radically different.
2. Having said all that, the MSU fans I know personally have faith in Mullen, believe for the LSU game anyway, that Mullen can and will outcoach O. (They saw O up close at OM)
They also believe in Fitzgerald and what may turn out to be a very good DL gives them a fightIng chance in every game on their schedule.
They know overall talent and depth they are behind Bama, LSU etc but feel that are making up difference.
I'd say they are cautiously optimistic but certainly not overconfident or even confident about winning Saturday.

How about the guy who is actually in the Heisman race Guice.
you think Guice is in the Heisman race after just 224 yards thru 2 games against 2 cupcakes? Not saying he has been bad, but if he wants to be in the heisman race he needs to do much better than that

against sec opponents last year he had 12tds-6ints 54% completion 114.6 qb rating.
you have to excuse people not thinking he will be the best player on the field when he is on the field against lsu's defense.
again, another person that doesn't realize he is a monster running the ball.
Rickdaddy, i ask you: please just watch the games and not rely on statistic sites in which you are too lazy to scroll all the way down to his rushing numbers.
Im more worried about him cutting thru a green defense on the ground. They have never played against a guy like this in an offense like this just yet.

You know how many yards Derrick Henry had through two games the year he won the Heisman? 243
Obviously, Guice is a long shot to win it, but it's way too early to write it off.

Henry went 11-147 3 TDs vs Wisconsin in gm1, that's a heisman type performance
Had 6 TDs thru 2 games.
Guice will have a good year but you have to run thru teams like our first 2 opponents

Agreed.

Mississippi State can hang w/ the Tigers, but for no more than a half.
LSU > MSU at virtually every position, with more depth. The exceptions are quarterback and placekicker.

Dude stfu. Your dick riding of state and downplaying Lsu is getting old. Now you are on guice. Jesus.

He has a point. Guice has looked good, but it's all about the numbers. And playing 3 quarters (?) in two games isn't helping his case any.

Guice is fine. I'm glad he is saving him for when it matters. Saban ran the damn legs off Henry.

Yes after Lsu dominated the first half then Les took over in the second.

*Kind of crazy that D.Henry had 38 carries against LSU. I didn't realize that.

2016
Vs UK 81 pass yds 1TD / 16 rush 107yds (Lost)
Vs Ala 145 pass yds / 11 rush 15yds (Lost)
Vs Aub 181 pass yds / 17 rush 61yds (Lost)
Vs LSU 120 pass yds / 13 rush 13yds (Lost)
Vs Miss 109 pass yds 3TD / 14 rush 258yds (Won)
Vs Miami(OH) 136 pass yds 1TD / 18 rush 132yds (Won)
Vs USCe 178 pass yds 2TD / 17 rush 195yds (Won)
Biggest passing games vs UMass, Ark, Samford, BYU
He's a rushing QB who's going to run the read option all game. And he doesn't fair well against defenses that play the run well.
Like I said he's a solid QB. I've seen him play, but in no means is he Dak. Nor will he be the best player on the field.
He'll have a good year against lesser talent for sure.

I'm not dick riding state. I'm just saying their QB is damn good and at 6'5" 240 will present problems if he finds his way into the 2nd level against some of our physically under developed Freshmen.
Guice is fine and doing his job. He's been damn good but isn't a heisman contender. If that hurts your wittle feelings so be it

Here's the point IMO. Most rational people are happy with LSU's performance against BYU and Chatt, but we also understand those are tune up games and aren't making wild statements about the future based solely on those games.
Moo did well in their tuneup games but you're making that statement based solely on that.

I have many posts in this thread and if that's how you interpreted what I've been saying you have reading comprehension problems.
I have barely mentioned what MSU has done so far this season. I'm looking at Fitzgerald's body of work as a first year starter as a sophomore last year & expecting him to be better in his second year as a Jr. It's that simple. He's played well but His numbers haven't even been that great because they've blown out 2 teams. So I'm not resting on that.
LSU should win, but he is the reason MSU has some confidence. Go back to the OP and that is what this thread is about. You have the best player on the field, and you have a shot

You said that Guice's yardage totals were problematic, not his touchdowns (Guice has 4, which is still pretty good) or yards per carry.
Henry went 13-147 against Wisconsin, not 11-147. And Alabama shredded them in that game. Kenyon Drake went 10-77 and a touchdown, and as a team they ran for 238 yards. Not a good performance for Aranda's run defense.
It's possible that BYU has a really good run defense. They looked pretty good to me during the game and the stats kind of back it up. They held Utah to 116 (after they ran for 272 against North Dakota). Portland St. only ran for 86 yards against BYU, and put up 291 against Oregon St.
OBVIOUSLY he has work to do, but to say he's done because he has "just 224 yards thru 2 games against 2 cupcakes" is just wrong.
