That good? No. Pace overpaid possibly because this was one of his personal scouts when he was here.

He did well last year with 7 sacks, but that was his first time going over 4.5 (16.5 career). Never had more than 36 solo tackles (which he also set last year).

Seems like this is the case of a guy playing balls out on a contract year. Let's see if he comes close to reproducing that this year.

He got lazy with us and he got lazy with the Pats. Now that he's paid I see that pattern as more likely to continue.

He was a 3rd round pick from Canada. He did well in 2013. So I wouldn't say he was massive disappointment.

I'd take Hicks with the DL coach we have now.

Very false. Pats wanted him back badly. He's one of the best interior linemen in the league

He had zero starts, 21 total tackles (9 solo), 3 sacks, and 1 FR with the Pats in 13 games. Seems if they wanted him that badly they would have played him more. He was largely a nonfactor with them.

Hell most of his production came in a two game stretch against two bad offenses (Texans and Titans). He had 10 total tackles (7 solo), all 3 sacks, and his fumble recovery all in that stretch before disappearing again the final two games.

He also did jack in the two playoff games, getting 3 total tackles with no sacks.

I can only tell you what I know and that was that he played a very good role for us that year and the pats were very much in the running to sign him that offseason

Idk where you got the lazy thing from in NE because he got nothing but rave reviews here from the staff

quote:

ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss considers DT Akiem Hicks to be the team's most valuable free agent. New England acquired Hicks from the Saints back in September in exchange for blocking TE Michael Hoomanawanui, and Hicks ended up being a key rotational lineman. Following his acquisition ahead of Week 5, Hicks graded out as PFF's No. 14 defensive tackle, excelling against the run and as a pass rusher. At 6'5/324 and just turning 26, Hicks could be looking at a nice pay day.

quote:

The Patriots will do their best to keep Hicks, though he might be out of the team's price range. For what it's worth, coach Bill Belichick told Hicks to keep at least "something" in his locker when he was cleaning it out at the end of the season.

From what I recall of Hicks, he was one of the most natural talents on the team. Hicks always seemed to destroy Atlanta's o-line, but overall the poor coaching at his position limited his development. It hurt to see him traded for a te that would not give much to improve our passing also. It seemed like a bad move and still does.

I hated the Hicks trade but we don't know what happened in the locker room.
It looks like a slight overpay but akiem Hicks is a really good de that stops the run and can still rush Chic did good to keep him and they didn't want someone to steal him away in free agency ne

Hicks posted in July saying "it's amazing what you can do when you have people that believe in you and make room for you to spread your wings #shadenoshade" with a picture of his pressure % per year from his time with the saints to the current year.

Hicks is looking like the reincarnation of Reggie White against the Falcons right now.

He surely is playing good so far today after a good 2016 season.

He was top 10 in in run stop % and pash rush productivity among 3-4 DE. More total stops than guys like Leonard Williams, Calais Campbell, deforest Buckner

He's gotten better every year. Stats don't tell the whole story for a guy in that role

Again, he looks really good today so, him getting paid & not producing doesn't seem like the case. Secondly, outside of Cam Jordan, how many defensive lineman did we see develop fully under Bill Johnson. I'll wait....

This is the truth. There are some on this board who simply refuse to admit when the front office or coaches make a mistake.
