It's tell the truth Monday right? Then O needs to stop the "impersonations" now

ETA LSU's thoughts on the subject as well
I know I'll be called a snowflake by the idiots too that won't take time to seriously consider the repercussions, but I was kind of shocked when the ESPN crew did their lengthy and what I considered to be disrespectful segment showing the announcers, and more importantly several high profile coaches around the country, doing their O "impersonations".
This has nothing to do with being offended, or too sensitive about being from Louisiana.
This is a trend that ESPN has had for years of making a caricature out of a coach. One that can be taken lightly and making it easy to overlook success and magnify failures.
What I saw wasn't good natured fun, it was flat out making fun of the man. As someone that has been critical of the hire, I don't want any more obstacles put in front of him than he already has.
I understand Louisiana is a fun and interesting place to a lot of people, and yes, some good natured fun can be poked at the way we do things down here. And Coach O certainly has a voice that is unique and can be a bit tough to understand from time to time.
But bringing opppsing coaches in to mock and parody a man that will be recruiting against many of them just seems unprofessional and lowering him to a caricature.
I get that the game was a blowout and there wasn't much to talk about on the field for these idiots that don't know anything other than the brief talking points they've been given, but it went on and on for what felt like just an inappropriate amount of time. Let these "journalists" do their fricking jobs and talk about football without resorting to stupid arse "jokes" to fill air time.
We've seen for years how harmful it can be when our coach became the butt of jokes from the "media". It may seem good natured when we are winning, but when things start going against us, those good natured jabs can turn into outright attacks.
Has anyone asked Coach O how he felt about it, or if he even knows about it?
Coach Miles did his best to play along and be a good sport when ESPN was shoving bowls of grass in his face during interviews, making fun of how he clapped, or the way he wore his hat, but I have no doubt that ultimately those antics became a big part of his downfall as he was viewed as less respected than other coaches around the country that never would have been approached that way.
My hope is that Coach O can respectfully let ESPN know he wasn't happy about it, and expects their employees to maintain professionalism when interviewing him or covering the team and the way he talks is not fair game for humor.
We've talked a lot about making positive changes in the program lately, and not having a coach as a constant source of comedic relief for a change should be a great place to start in my opinion. It ended up hurting Coach Miles and LSU, so O should let it be known early he won't tolerate that kind of nonsense right from the start before it gets out of hand, if it hasn't already.
ESPN has taken on social and political issues ad nauseum as of late, so they should be more than supportive of stopping the use of words that may be intended comically that can cut deep and not be ok to those they are "impersonating".

The truth is it isn't a big deal.

Win the west this year and the laughing stops. Respect is earned.

Les Miles was Les Miles downfall.

O is in a no-win situation honestly.
Your reaction may be to say, he wins a title, and they will shut up.
But honestly, even if he won a NC, they would just talk about the coordinators. Just like they did on College GAMEDAY. However, name a coach that doesn't want to surround themselves with top notch assistants.
I hope O doesn't give a shite publicly. It would just make him look weak.

Like in 2011 when Miles beat Saban on the road and got a rematch for his troubles?

What in the hell are you talking about? You are reading a lot into something that doesn't deserve to have anything read into it.

When you give a guy a job in part because he 'talks like us', you deserve to be mocked for it.

Well, one of his supposed strengths was that he would surround himself with the best coordinators and be hands off.

You're looking at this all wrong. ESPN is getting Coach O's name out there just like they did with Les. Les was able to recruit all over the country because ESPN made him a star. They are trying to do the same thing with O.
