Best public school in Louisiana

What's the best/some of the best public school/s in the state?
We're relocating to BR or NO area within the next year (prayers appreciated). Not Catholic, not religious, but I still don't want my child to be stabbed in school. Are there any that can compete with Madison or Ocean Springs, MS? Both academically as well as athletically.

I'm from Cenla.
Bunkie? Might as well give him a 9mm, and shank him now.

In BR/NO, you'll want to go private school. Trust me.
Eta - I know that doesn't answer your question, just a fact.

How old is the kid? There are some magnet schools for middle and high school kids in the BR area. Outside of a few of the magnet schools, I wouldn't recommend any of the public schools.
NO may be better.
ETA: I mean public schools not private schools.

If in BR, you'll want Zachary or Central high school.

No school in Louisiana compares to Madison.
Try Texas.

Just went through this.
If you move to BR, DO NOT LIVE IN EBR PARISH. The esteemed mayor president is slowly bleeding that area dry to make a permanent underclass. Move to Ascension and send your kids to the public schools there. Elementary and middle schools are great if you are zoned for Oak Grove and Prarieville Middle.
If you move to NOLA, the best public school is Ben Franklin. Outside of that, private schools.

The only option in BR or Nola is private. You'll see the same responses throughout this thread. The only possibility for public may be magnet schools like Baton Rouge high or Ben Franklin in Nola.

Yea, age would help.
There are a few magnet schools here in the EBRP school system, but, if his kids can't make it, private would be best.

Also, not sure how good it is now, but Lee high school is now a STEM high school.
Not sure if it's magnet or what, but it's brand new and supposedly a little better than other public schools in BR.

Ben Franklin in New Orleans is the best public school in the state. Athletics might leave a little to be desired though.

If you go BR, go magnet route.
Academic magnet, FLAIM.
BR high and Lee High.
