Probably a Smoothie King, cell phone store, vitamin shop and battery store. You know, all the strip mall essentials.

They opened up a Rotolos a few months ago in Port Allen/Brusley. Pretty much go every Wednesday during lunch for calzones. Food is good, service is good, and they have cheap good beer.

Is the new place on Burbank still called rotolos or something else? Is it open?

Nothing says class like a daiquiri bar and nail salon. Sounds like a home run.

Can confirm.

I was invited to a taste testing a month or so ago at the corporate office. Pleasantly surprised at what they're planning for this new location. Complete 180 from what they currently offer.

I believe they're scheduled to open beginning of October.

Me and a buddy was thinking about checking it out this weekend but I guess it isn't open yet.

What is Detroit style?

The best way I can describe it is a deep pan dish with cheese baked into the sides of the dough & the sauce on top of the toppings.

Really really good. Also tasted a Sicilian pan crust which is similar.

I think people will be very surprised with what they're coming out with. Rotolo Jr is spear heading this concept. They'll have 40 craft beers on tap as well.

No. Pretty sure that location is closed for good.

This one is the anchor for the big shopping center at the corner of Burbank & Ben Hur.

From what they said at the taste testing, they will start out with this concept at Burbank and then retro all of their other locations. I didn't realize before this that they had 30+ other locations.

Edited to add that Rotolo sold the building on govt. I've heard a few different ideas of what's going there, but nothing set in stone yet.

Yeah. I was told that Chase Lyons and Sean Rivera were working on some concept for there. Could just be heresy

Yes, heard Chase was one of the buyers. Last I heard was it would be a Vietnamese place but I've heard other things as well. The building needs some work so I'm sure it'll be a while before it opens.

I know the guy from New Orleans that has the Alabama and Florida franchises. He does very well with them and I believe he is trying to go into Tennessee.

That building was originally a Pitt Grill built in the early 70's then it was MOP's Meat Pies and those were great. I'm lucky enough to still get them. Hope Rotolo's worked on the building because it became a shithole.

Rotolo’s Pizzeria is set to open its new flagship restaurant next month near the South Gates of LSU. The revamped concept, called Rotolo’s Craft & Crust, will serve as a model for the company’s 31 locations. “It’s back to our roots where we were with the original location,” says owner Mitch Rotolo. “We want to go back to that really cool culture of Rotolo’s from the 90s.”

As part of the rebrand, the new 4,500-square-foot Rotolo’s, on the corner of Burbank Drive and Ben Hur Road, will feature 40 draft beers, stone Italian ovens and a “slice bar” featuring fresh ingredients. Rotolo says he’ll release additional details about the concept before the restaurant’s planned Oct. 9 opening.

Among the other tenants in the new retail center are Spanky’s Daiquiris, Luxury Nails, Petel’s Family Dentistry and a national quick-service restaurant with a drive through. Rotolo declined to name the restaurant yet, and says he has two more retail spaces available.
