Kevin Sumlin (Texas A&M) +140 - Another season where the program collapses in the back end of the season, he's gone.
Butch Jones (Tennessee) +140 - Gave up over 40 points in a loss to Vanderbilt. Amazing he's still there.
Gus Malzahn (Auburn) +600 - Agree
Ed Orgeron (LSU) +800 - Will be given more than one year. The only thing I can see is he could be made to fire Matt Canada if the offense is not effective.
Derek Mason (Vanderbilt) +1200 - Beat Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee and went to a bowl game. Vandy probably gave him a big raise and extension. Should be on the other end of the list.
Mark Stoops (Kentucky) +1200 - He beat Louisville and went to a bowl game. Kentucky's Nick Saban, Should be on the other end of the list.
Barry Odom (Missouri) +1200 - Have no idea, expectations probably aren't very high at Mizzou.
Bret Bielema (Arkansas) +1600 - According to Arkansas fans his buyout is too large for Ark to fire him until after the 2018 season unless they can do it for a show-cause violation on his part.
Will Muschamp (South Carolina) +2000 - Not ranked, no expectations. Still recovering from the Visor bailing on them. Still don't know how accurate this pick is.
Dan Mullen (Mississippi State) +2500 - MS State isn't firing this coach whether they are relevant or not.
Jim McElwain (Florida) +4000 - Would put much higher odds unless he has a huge buyout. I don't think UF has bought into this guy.

The only formula for a successful Coach O tenure is to have the very best coordinators. Basically, having Coach O as HC in name only.
Think about it, we've hired a HC we're paying NOT to coach.

I think Id take those odds on Bret

The only way O is fired this season is if he commits some kind of cheating or felony and gets busted. Literally that's it.
The fact that he's above Bert is laughable

Just about any first year coach has a chance of getting fired if they really shiiat the bed. Derek mason isnt goin anywhere. I would
Have the Odom 4th though. He's a defensive coach and they were horrible on D from what I saw. If they have a tough year I would not be shocked if he'd let go

I would put Mason ahead of him or at least tied, but the trick is the "first" coach fired, not "if" they will be fired. Some schools like Vandy and Kentucky may not fire the head coach part way through a season even if the coach was winless.

quote:this is entirely possible. O has shite the bed in dramatic fashion before. Losses to Bama, AU, UF, Ark are all easy to see if we let the wheels come off....
The only way I see O fired after one year is if he "tanks" (7-5 or close to that);
Posted on 8/31/17 at 5:10 pm to Alt26
O is not gonna get fired this year or next

Speaks to the stability of SEC coaches this year.

Is anybody really impressed with Kirby Smart at Georgia?
Posted on 8/31/17 at 6:18 pm to Alt26
Can't wait till coach O shoves a dick in the mouth of every doubter
Posted on 8/31/17 at 6:34 pm to Alt26
Say what?
Posted on 8/31/17 at 7:12 pm to Alt26
Probably correct order but probability is extremely low. come on already, yes, toughest division/conference but 'O' has got a great coaching staff and an elite bunch of players - no way 7-5.

Hell I'll put 100 bucks on Saban.
Posted on 8/31/17 at 7:34 pm to Alt26
I'd flip Orgeron and Muschamp.
Posted on 8/31/17 at 7:50 pm to Alt26
This season? Coach O is as likely to be fired as Saban this season but the top 3 are highly likely.
Posted on 8/31/17 at 8:12 pm to Alt26
Coach O has 3 seasons unless he bombs 2 straight.

Dumb
LSU won't fire him in one year no matter what

I don't think he's fired but I think it reflects that he hasnt coached a whole season at LSU A
and his previous stint was unsuccessful. Winning and proving this criticism wrong is the only way it's going to change.

I would put him right under Sumlin at #2
