BIGGEST GAMBLE HIRES
Every athletic director who made a hire this past offseason is hopeful right now – hopeful that he got the right guy, and the program is headed in the right direction, and the payoff in Saturday glory is about to unfold before their eyes.

Not all of them are right. Not by a long shot. On paper, these are the three riskiest hires that were made for the 2017 season:

Ed Orgeron (31), LSU. The Tigers fired a guy with a .719 career winning percentage (Les Miles), whiffed on hiring guys with winning percentages of .821 (Jimbo Fisher) and .820 (Tom Herman) and abruptly settled for Coach O, batting .431. But hey, he’s from Louisiana and loves the state and can growl out the hometowns of every in-state player on the roster. What could possibly go wrong? In the SEC West? At a place obsessed with trying to beat Nick Saban?

This guy steals his material from the rant.

If you can't see that Ed Orgeron was a risky hire then you're beyond help.

Orgeron is a better fit for the program overall. Herman would have been a gamble IMO. I'm glad things turned out how they did

Ok, frick this asshat. It's true that the Orgeron hire was a gamble. He does, however, have successful P5 HC experience at two schools (albeit on interim basis). Tom Herman is a good coach but he cannot boast the same.

And this clown doesn't mention that our recruiting class stayed very strong in spite of the coaching change. Nor does he mention that Orgeron only had to fire and replace three assistants to make the whole staff "his own". How many of Strong's Texas guys did Herman keep as opposed to those he brought in himself?

Orgeron was dealt a winning hand, with little doubt. And he has made all the right moves since getting the HC job officially. I know it wasn't a sexy hire. It wasn't even the hire I wanted. But it's what we got and I support him until he gives me a reason not to, just like Miles did. Tired of hacks shiteing all over the guy before he even has his first game as LSU HC under his belt.

Sounds like he's just telling it like it is.
