This may be off topic or whatever, downvote or delete if necessary... If you interact with BYU folks this weekend, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by their fan base and mormons in general. The Southern decadence vs mormon thing is lol worthy, but reality is that it won't faze these people at all...they will probably be highly amused. No, they don't drink, and the religion itself sounds bizarre to me, but whatever. I can honestly say after interacting with several LDS folks through work from all over the country, give me a mormon and I'll take my chances vs most other groups of people. Hard working, smart, generous, and friendly... almost every single one from my experience. Riding bikes in shirt and tie going door to door is...different, but in real life situations I've enjoyed being around mormons. I guess my point is, I hope our fan base treats these folks well.

Mormons come from Denmark.

Like all religions , the problems are caused by people twisting the message for their own purpose,

" look dear, it says in the book you need perfect boobs "

Yep - Have quite a few of them on my sales team and they're awesome. Even keep the others out of the strip joints, which is an added plus - less attrition...

They identify as Christian. Why is this such a big sticking point for some people?

Yep - 100% Christian, just as some create their own Jackal-ope interpretation to fit their needs, others lose sight on the reason God sent Jesus and also about his 'yoke being easy'.

Idk about them really as fans but damn...talk about serious culture shock coming to new orleans lol. They're going to be praying the entire time to joseph smith or whoever they pray to.

They are not Christian.
They do not believe in Jesus as Savior.
Their "religion" didn't even begin until the early 1800's.

None of this matters as far as the football game but don't spew untruths.

Quit spreading BS. Mormons don't even believe in or practice paid ministry. They do it for free, and many of the missionaries pay for their own missions. It's a religion based on sacrifice, not profit.

Correct.

Also, it's not true that you never see older missionaries. Empty nester couples will sometimes go on missions.

Actually we are Christian.
We 100% believe in Jesus as Savior.
The official name for the Mormon church is The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints.
Thanks for playing.

I know many Mormons and am related to several. 99% of them are good people. A handful of them, like any other religious group, are shady as hell.

But over all the leaders of the local church are upright folks. Will help when they can, none of them have ever high pressured me about their religion.

All are patriotic, some are simple enough to believe the garbage they hear from far right winged news sources.

Overall, other than me not believing like they do, I place them high on the scale of good, moral, decent folks.

As a proud Utahn, statements like these frustrate me. There are nearly 50,000 African Americans living in our great state. Utah is quickly becoming more diverse. My boys play AAU basketball and have several teammates who are African American. My 9th grader's two best friends are black. Hurricane Katrina brought many displaced people from New Orleans to Utah who have enjoyed living along the Wasatch Front and have made this their new home. All the world is welcome here! We love everyone, even though we're a bit peculiar and we are just barely getting the hang of power tools. :)

A Mormon Master Chief I served with in the Navy could drink you under the table. I reckon he was "backslidden". Great guy.

Baptist and Mormons are pretty different spiritually.
Now if you're talking about some of those who don't take their faith seriously there many like that Catholic Methodist , etc....

I'm sure its tough enough to keep four wives happy without banning chocolate

And while I agree with the general consensus that Mormons are fine people and easy to get along with there are some weird, cultish offshoots that are well beyond creepy. I've got no doubt that these subgroups are only a small part of the larger faith but I've met some disturbing "families" in northern Colorado.

It is for people that don't have mental and emotional problems. Seriously, those that can't have a good time at a football game without drinking need to seek psychological and/or psychiatric attention.
