You're a pathetic pussy. Put your big boy pants on and get to work and stop making excuses

The free market works both ways, bro. You can raise your prices when there's greater demand for your product or service. So can the labor force. There is an equilibrium wage point at which you can find people willing to work. If you cant or wont pay it, you wont have workers. Economics 101.

There is already a tremendous labor shortage all over South and Southwest Louisiana. This is going to make it worse .
Maybe in your residential construction industry but in my industry there are plenty of good skilled blue collar people looking for work. This whole deal will be a good shot in the arm for the industry that I'm in.

So should I expect the estimate I just received from a contractor to go up?

Maybe if Louisiana focused less on giveaways to companies who don't need more free shite and invested those funds into their cities and neighborhoods other places wouldn't look so attractive.
The state is a shithole because of people like you and you're scared they'll go to a place that sucks only slightly less. Good. People deserve better.

Louisiana is run by shite heads.
The economy is going to suck regardless.

Yep I am sure all the hot strippers in the "industry" are headed to Texas. Those dry wallers gonna be slinging dollar bills in da clubs there.

Well my core workforce is paid well beyond industry standard for reasons as stated and the majority in Louisiana are stable family oriented people. So for myself here I'm not terribly concerned although finding additional skilled labor is almost nonexistent regardless of wage. TWIC, drug testing etc...limits the workforce.
My nomadic workforce in other states is not as stable and much more transient and will prove to be a concern. Not that it can't be settled, labor funding for me is priority but there are always the ones that bolt for greener grass.
But as a commercial, residential (which I don't do) and industrial construction industry which is very large in this area it will be a formidable task to keep all projects running at current schedule and cost. And I would think with as many in the industry are on this board it would be something they are thinking about.
It is going to be a challenge and one I thought worth discussing.
Apparently a girl called me a pussy, a cuk and I've been accused of not wearing big boy pants. Guess I should have just started a wyhi or Taylor Swift thread so they could be engaged.

I don't disagree which is why I made the comment of them not returning.

I'm not scared of anything. 30% of my work is in LA. 50% in Texas and the balance throughout other Southwest states. I own property in Texas and will probably end up there in a few years. But yes I am from Louisiana and do reside here now and am aware of how Louisiana politics work-none to my favor.

What type of construction you do?
Posted on 8/27/17 at 5:29 pm to CHEDBALLZ
Industrial and commercial direct vendor. Not through third party. But I know Turner, Excel, Brock, Pala etc...guys and I know their struggles to keep up. I don't think people understand the scope and volume of projects being performed up and down this river and around Lake Charles.
But just on the commercial side-say the new Children's Hospital Womack is doing. I can guarantee they will lose people from that one site and it will be hard to replace them which will affect the schedule and dollars all down the line. That's just one commercial job. When BR flooded last year NO construction almost came to a standstill because everyone wanted to be a contractor and like being paid cash. Multiply that by whatever scope the Houston area will entail.

LA solidified that when they voted for JBE

Maybe all the shady contractors. All the legit contractors won't have anything to do with the reno's in TX.
