Should somone who gives up his citizenship be labeled a traitor and charged w/ treason?

Is the act of just wanting to leave the United States considered treason?

Should the Federal government be able to forcefully detain people who want to leave?

No. Do you even understand why most people give up citizenship.

Most of those people live in other countries and don't want to have to pay taxes to 2 different countries. Make a honest, sane tax code and people won't have to renounce citizenship. Citizens living in other countries shouldn't have to pay anything close to full taxes to this country.

Need more information. I'd think if you're fleeing to avoid some kind of criminal or civil judgment, then yes. If you're just peacing out, then no.

What in the hell are you talking about? There are hundreds of reasons people move overseas and take citizenship in another country. Hell, I almost did that myself. It doesn't have to be treason.
