The Exorcist. 30 years later I still refuse to watch it.

Hatchet
No, it's not scary. I just like the NOLA references.
As a kid I remember being terrified of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
I like more psychological thrillers than straight horror/scary. What Lies Beneath and The Number 23 are pretty good imo.

Rosemary's Baby is another worth mentioning. Certainly more suspense than horror, but religious/cult stuff is what sticks with me. I've never seen the exorcist and only the beginning of the omen for that reason.
Halloween is a really good movie.

Blair Witch
I will always have that answer because it is the best movie at showing what it is like to be lost in the woods.

I do not understand how anyone can possibly pick the witch. I nearly fell asleep twice during that movie, I mean it's not awful per say, but I definitely was not shaking in my seat watching it.

I re-watched a lot of old scary movies that scared me as a kid and Pet Sematary was one that surprised me with how well it has stood the test of time.
The Shining gets creepier each time I watch it when I notice all the crazy shite Kubrick did in that movie like the nonsensical hotel floor plan, disorienting camera jumps, all kinds of other discrepancies. (The "twins" are described as being about "eight and ten", the caretaker is called both Charles Grady and Delbert Grady, the "Shaw!" noise being played multiple times that you can't unhear after you notice it, Jack looking straight into the camera multiple times, etc.)

Curse of Chucky is a great throw back to the first few movies
It makes me feel like a kid watching child's play again

Not exactly a scary movie now, but "What Lies Beneath" got to me as a kid... I was always scared to go in the bathroom after watching that..

Saw The Exorcist as a kid...it still haunts me from time to time.

Joy Ride scared the shite out of me when I was 10 years old. Now it's probably my all time guilty pleasure.

IT by a mile. I saw just parts of it as a little kid and still get occasional nightmares. My wife has been woken up to me in post-nightmare mode and now just makes fun of me. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Child - IT
Adult - Conjuring movies always make me feel different. Partly because I feel like if there were demonic presences this is how it would be. Knowing that is super unsettling to me.
