Etling 8-18, 2 INTs/Brennan 4-8, TD

Curious as to how those 2 INTs happened but it seems maybe that he was just having a bad day. Brennan appears to becoming comfortable but his stats are nothing crazy. I sense a good amount of competition between these two, especially since Brennan took some snaps with the 1s.
Wish he had some video to look at because it really is hard to tell how good/bad they're playing.

Brennan was against the 2's. Etling was against our all-world defensive starters.

No, Coach O said that Brennan took snaps with the starters. Wish y'all would stop saying that.

Just spitballing here:
But O mentioned our OL pass blocking was atrocious the whole scrimmage which will lead to making mistakes even in a scrimmage situation.
Rumor throughout camp is Brennan has a very quick release added with above average accuracy. That balances out bad OL play.
Just my .02

We are fcked if O sticks with DE only because he's a senior. He doesn't seem to be improving since ever. There's always a pile of excuses for him. It's always the OL and/or the D is one of the best. At some point you have to improve and show something.
He is the same that he's always been. It would be nice to know the other guys are getting a fair shake and the same amount of coaching being put into DE. For O's job sake, I hope this changes.

A guy who was there said that Brennan took 3 snaps with the 1s and threw no passes. I wish people would stop trying to make any sort of meaningful inferences out of stats with zero context.

May the best man win the job.
If it's close, it may as well be Brennan since he's our future.
Plus there is zero change Etling will stay healthy enough to take every snap of every game, so Brennan is going to burn his redshirt anyway. Might as well get him more playing time since Etling is gone next year for sure.

WTF. How the heck do you know what he looks like? There is nothing but speculation about everything that's happening at camp and that's good. We need to let the coaches coach and keep the media and US away from the team..They are implementing a new system and are only 70% there according to the coaches. Mistakes are going to happen like miscommunication, route running errors, etc.
Let it go because as of now, we have a starting QB and who knows who is really number 2 behind him and how much of a gap that really is. McMillian may have a light come on and blaze past both who the hell knows.

Someone said in another thread on here that one of his picks came in the hurry up against the 1's with 9 seconds left.

So you really think that means that he shared equal snaps against the ones with Etling? Brennan may have had one series with the starters. Maybe.

"I thought he did fantastic," Orgeron said. "I think we (dropped) a long ball that would have been a touchdown - obviously it was on the money and we should have caught it. I thought his passes were on the money. He was under duress all day with a tremendous rush."
Etling in the scrimmage completed 5 of 11 passes for 86 yards with two touchdowns and no picks, according to Orgeron.
That was literally 7 days ago. Apparently the dropped TD pass was a 60 yarder which would have been 6/11 for 146 and 3 TDs with no INTs.
Lets not get too carried away with scrimmage stats.

This, the scrimmage was situational. Stats, especially completion %, aren't going to look good if they were working mostly on two minute drill.

Starting offense, not defense.

Delpit is just a bad bad dude. Kids going to be special.

Why don't we wait until the BYU game at least to started shitting all over a player just because he didn't throw for 450 yds and 10 td passes in a stupid scrimmage.
JJ and B. Harris was practice juggernauts but sucked huge donkey balls in a real game.
Matt Mauck threw 5 ints in his spring game. And he sucked so bad that he led them to win the National Championship.
Don't freak out over fall camp practices.

Etling vs the 1s and Brennan vs the 2s
Orgeron should flip the script and let the #1 O go against the #2 D the rest of the way and vice versa.

If it's close, you go with the experience. This isn't a rebuild. This team has enough talent to make some noise nationally.

8-18 with 2 ints is absolutely horrific. I don't care he was facing our 1s. Uf,auburn, and Bama all have similar quality defenses

Throws in a 2 minute drill should be to short, quick routes to get out of bounds easily.

My exact argument last night. Even BYU, State, Arky and A&M(maybe) will have good D's.
