these marches require permits. the "Unite the Right" acquired one and had the legal ground to march

i have not seen confirmation that any of the leftist groups secured a permit to interfere with the march. if they didn't, they should have been removed/arrested

if you want to stop these violent clashes, just permit one group per space per time and arrest any antagonizer who shows up to use violence to silence the march. this would have solved the issues at Berkeley, VA, etc

There's a far simpler solution: ignore ignorant trash and do not give them the attention they desperately seek.

ETA: but I agree with your premise

I heard the mayor or police chief ordered a stand down of officers which allowed the antifa rioters to clash without anyone stopping them. That person should be charged

i'm curious to see an objective (lulz) analysis of what went down

if those leftists didn't have a permit, they (as well as the police) are liable for ALL OF THIS

Private groups should not be issued permits to take over public parks.

Did the governor call out the national guard ahead of time to line the march route? Nothing less would have guaranteed a peaceful march by those with a protest.

The left wanted this, don't let them fool you. They have been losing ground since Trump began MAGAing all over the place and needed a rallying cry.

I say, just do away with the permits all together and just arrest anyone who is doing anything but peacefully assembling - which would include blocking streets, breaking anything that's not yours, assaulting anyone, etc.

I just saw a video I can't link it so don't ask. Richard Spencer is begging the state riot police to leave them alone, they have a permit to peaceably assemble approved by a Fed Judge and they in turn got roughed up.

Mc Auliffe's thugs. Broke up a lawful assembly and as far as I know no one did anything to the bused in left wing agitators.

I suspect that come tomorrow there is going to be a very unhappy Federal Judge that will be pretty pissed at the Commonwealth of Virginia. There was no reason for the treatment the lawfully gathered persons got.

The want brigade's spidey senses are tingling. Quick! You better specifically denounce alt-right nationalism before they get the pitchforks and bike locks out

Unfortunately someone on the extreme right finally took the bait and someone died as a result. The extreme left is celebrating right now.

The police were stupid for dispersing the rally and counter protest in the morning like they did. That just sent everyone all over the city and created more chaos.

If there was some sort of credible threat that they were responding to, then fine. But it doesn't sound like there was any.

yes, but the state has the duty to keep the peace

Time, place, and manner restrictions have long been recognized exceptions by SCOTUS for a long time.
