I think it would be really hard to assassinate Kim. we tried for a long time with Hussein, and never accomplished it.

As the regime faces internal threats, they'll have less internal pressure to not launch an attack to unite their people. Keep that in mind.
exactly
trying a coup from the inside without the backing of China/US force will just make Kim more paranoid and more volatile
MUCH worse than using bravado in statements

Plus, if it backfires, he can look to his allies and project justification for all of his actions. It would also strengthen their message of "evil America" to the citizens if we got caught with our pants down on an internal coup.

Could have told Dennis Rodman to do it last he was over there, or he would not be allowed back into the states ever again. Either Kim dies or Rodman is out. That's a win either way for the American people.

quote:The Chinese really, really, hate the Koreans. They only reason they (limited) trade with them is it keeps them on their side of the border. They'd gladly let the US take them off their hands as we try (and fail) yet again at nation building.
everyone is basically begging China to take over NK. the fear isn't a "Western puppet state". the fear is that China doesn't want to have to pay to run NK. they don't want to deal with the humanitarian/refugee issues. it's that simple

Susan Rice: US can 'tolerate' nuclear weapons in North Korea
Wasn't Obama saying last year that the USA will not tolerate nukes in North Korea?
Why is she throwing her old boss under the bus? Are cheap political points against Trump that important?

Legit, yes

Retired Army General Anthony Tata said on The Story that Rice is incompetent and has zero credibility.

At this point the best outcome is to stop their nuclear proliferation, use them as an example to other evil regimes, while trying to save face on an international level. Unfortunately that means they will have to strike first which will mean possibly millions dying.
This might sound dumb, but if we can prevoke them to strike first then we take steps to protect possibly billions of people, both foreign and American, in the future.
If you kick the can far enough down the road, the road doesn't go on forever and the party ends sooner rather than later.
It is a moral and ethical conundrum, but isn't it our job to protect the future as much as it is to protect today?
