Does anyone play there or know anything about the stock/initiation costs?
Metairie Country Club?
They seems like the only real private clubs in NOLA.

I like your swag. First post and your asking about joining CC's.

You can maybe get in Metarie for around 50K initiation plus dues and be new money, I think New Orleans is invite only and a significantly higher initiation fee.

It doesn't even cost half that.

So is Metairie. But if you show some interest and don't have a criminal record, I can pretty much guarantee you'll find someone to invite you.

Is there any other way to come out of the gate but strong?
I heard that NOCC was $50K, but wasn't sure if that was accurate. I thought it was a little high. I was thinking it would be $30-35K. But, that was just a guess.

Tom Benson was initially denied membership there...its pretty tough to get membership there. I think Metairie is hurting for members, but the course isnt as nice as NOCC

MCC is way easier than NOCC in terms of getting in. And I know that MCC has a junior rate if you're like 34 or younger, not sure of the discount. I've played MCC a bunch, never teed it at NOCC. MCC is an OK track, conditions are sometimes spotty and most green complexes are raised with traps on either side, gets a little redundant.

NOCC seems like a lot of the same people that are in old line krewes. I know several, but not extremely well.

That seems pretty reasonable and competitive.

Maybe back in the 70's when he was a used car salesman and the city had more rich folk. I know some young dirtbag lawyers with no familial New Orleans ties who are members of NOCC.

I wanted to be a dirtbag lawyer, but I got sidetracked in college.

Back in the 80s, either Golf Digest or Golf Magazine ran an article that stated NOCC was the “snootiest” club in America. I don’t think things have changed.

I’ve never heard of a private club that doesn’t require member sponsorships making it technically invite only. My most recent membership process included having sponsors but also credit check, criminal background check, and an interview with the member quality board.
Initiation fees really vary based on kind of membership. My one club has social members, par 3 members, and full golf members. What you pay a year is typically nothing compared to the initiation fee. Most private clubs will let you finance the sign up fee.

That is far from true.
