It was just straight up actual divorce therapy. Outside of the one frick you throw away joke by Beth, there wasn't even a joke or a reason for it.

It reminded me of Futurama episode "Amazon Women in the Mood" right after Bender, Kif, Zapp, and Fry were captured by the Amazon Women. They were being lead through the town and their captor was explaining how all of the female versions of things were better. They got to the comedy club and the Amazon Woman says something along the lines of "This is our comedy club, comedy here is funny because it uses real situations not abstract situations."

Women and men find typically find different types of comedy funny so I'm not surprised that the type of jokes and show situations have changed in two of the first three episodes.

There is a clip on YouTube of a future episode in this season

This scene was great until the end. What happened to being subtle about Rick's problems? It's so out of character for him to straight up admit his demons.

It reminded me of the ruling females on gazorpazorp when they say they'll crush Rick with a Boulder and he'd rather shoot himself then listen to them explain something so obvious.
