Not making the tournament with Ben Simmons was a huge black eye for the program. Wade is exactly the type of guy we needed. Can't believe how much momentum it feels like we have now.

i love how he didn't just sit around with the garbage roster he was given either

This is easily my favorite thing about him, he's arguably done more work recruiting in 4 months than Johnny Jones did in 4 years, and has certainly already done more recruiting than Trent Johnson did in his time here

yeah Johnny was a dead man walking after that, it was senseless to bring him back last season...we could be going into year 2 of this rebuild instead of letting johnny completely burn the building down

Every time I see something like that posted I get more pumped. I can't wait until football season starts to give me a distraction from all the basketball excitement. I need football to calm me down a little.

Well that's a change from the dreaded Johnny Jones regime. His mantra was, "Next year we won't suck quite as bad".

Poor Johnny, he was/is a good soul thrust upon us by his old mentor, teammates and players who really liked him because he was such a good soul. Not a good head coach mind you.

and he was able to escape serious scrutiny his first three years under the false perception that the team improved each of his first three years. But if you watched closely you could see the pattern of eroding accountability and consistent effort overtaking the program until it imploded in year 4 in embarrassing fashion.

As I have said repeatedly, I just look forward to seeing a team that plays hard consistently as sad as that is to say. But I have no doubt we'll get at least that under Wade.

I'll hold the higher aspirations for now, but there is hope which was gone at the end of year 4 under CJJ.

TU,
I agree with your assessment of CJJ. I let his likeability cloud my vision especially when he came in with that first team and broke even in conference. But I always knew that last year would be his make or break year and boy did he break!

I think Sampson will be a key player this year in one of two ways. Either he has really bought into the program and can play every game with spirit, enthusiasm and effort or he can not do this and be benched as the new guys get the minutes. I hope he is right in the head as we need scorers and he can be a big one with points off of defense and finishing on breaks.

I love his energy. I didn't know if our previous coach was coaching on the sidelines or waiting at a bus stop.

Agree with you here, first things first, I want to see improved effort on the court, and I have very little doubts we will see that... Once the accountability and effort are back in this program then we can move on to loftier goals

Bingo....my biggest issue with CJJ is the better of his players played when they felt like it and there was no accountability for that. Over time that only got worse.
