That's a bit deceiving though. California only has a ~6% AA population. Add the number of schools in the region, and you see why UCLa has struggled. Oregon and Wash also recruit the area hard. These facilities should help tho.

That 6% is still a really large number. LA also has the 8th largest number of African Americans. There is more than enough talent to go around and UCLA and USC have had extended periods of time where both were good together. UCLAs administration just has to stop sabatoging itself

The state of AL has similar AA populations as California (close to 2 MM people). Not saying it isn't a good base to pull recruits from, just showing that competition is fierce for a small sample size. There are some great football programs pulling from that pool.

Right, but the city of LA has a good amount. It has one of the 10 largest African American populations in the country

Southern cal outrecruits ucla.
Years ago someone posted the correlation of top classes to finish in sec west. Very high correlation.
Landon collins got two takeaways in lsu game. 5 star guys matter. They dont all make it. And neither do 4 star but many do.
Losing cam and collins was difference between lsu and bama.
Its worse in los angeles. Ucla rarely sniffs top 15. Lsu is often top 10.

I somewhat wished Duke would go back to its Navy look in basketball instead of Royal also.
Was this ever a thing?

Ucla dude, you guys are in top 15 2018 now because 21 guys. Southern cal has only 11. 8 are 4 star or better. Little bears have 4 4 star, no 5 star.
Ucla will drift to 3rd tier as teams fill their openings.

I'll be honest, if I'd have been a top athlete recruited by everyone. I would have had a hard time not going to UCLA

UCLA and Stanford, I'd have had a really hard time saying 'No' to.... after those two and I'm sure a few more, I'd probably just have went to LSU out of love and having the best shot at the next level.

Don't pity him. He's got the Lakers to fall back on.

Yeh but college teams cut deeper man
For example:
Saints/49ers in 2012 gutted me, but 1/9/12 gutted me and fed those guts to fire ants as the guts were still attached to my body enough to keep me alive and feel all the pain

You don't know the love fest between my city and its Spurs
Let's put it this way: I've cried tears of joy over both Aggie football and Spurs basketball. No regrets with either.
ETA: Shiiit, I was cutting onions the other night when I was holding my son watching the Spurs' first championship video with him, and it's not like he can understand a damn thing he's seeing right now
