Look, my man, that's why I said it's past history now. It's speculative now, but if they had won out I think they jump Texas because of what I said imo. The 2003 controversy between LSU and USC and wanting to settle it, and because I think the SEC is a much stronger conference. Just get back to the thread now, I'm tired of talking about this shite. lol

Yes, that's the same UGA team who's arse he kicked twice (really bad in the SECCG) in the same season in winning a NC.
well UGA did whip his arse in 2004 just to be fair here.

it is why i said he obviously has never been a business owner or serious investor. he has proven that with how he views this football hire. see my analogy on page before this. his mentality makes ZERO sense in the business or investing world especially when you are LSU.
but watch out he will take anything you say as bashing!

2004..LSU 16 Georgia 45
I don't hate Saban. The man is a great coach and I wish he had never left, but he didn't walk on water at LSU. Acting like there was no doubt he would have won a NC in 2005 is crazy and showing you have a serious man crush.

Ok, just 1 last retort I promise
The world in 2005 was very different, the SEC wasn't viewed as the Uber conference yetAuburn was undefeated in 04 and was left out in 2006 Florida only got in after USC lost to UCLA. maybe there's some buzz about USC-LSU, but I don't see them moving Texas down given they're closest game after Ohio State was 11, 2nd closest was 21 and they won their CCG 70-3.

No one has a man crush on Saban, it's called a conversation. Now go and play.

Is that the same Saban who got beat like a drum to much the same Georgia?
Are we talking about the same Saban who won nine games, was for all practical purposes out of the SEC race in September, and barely finished in the top 20 in 2004?
He never produced back to back ten win seasons at LSU but he was sure to win a NC in 2005.
Saban was a very good coach at LSU but this idea that he never had his own, what the frick games at LSU is laughable.
Do you not think Saban learned from that experience? The 2004 team was complacent and he had to replace Clayton, Hill, Mauck, Henderson, Peterman, Lavalais, Gay, Edwards, Alexander and Hunt. Plus, Skyler was hurt and never played up to his Sophomore season.
What's laughable are people who think he wouldn't have achieved as much or more success than Elmer Fudd, I mean Les Miles.
People can spin it anyway they want but Nick Saban resurrected LSU from the trash heap of irrelevance.
It's funny that the same people who wanted to give Les Miles the benefit of the doubt and even more rope to hang himself, won't give Orgeron the same benefit of the doubt. I am in no way comparing O to Belechick or Pete Carroll but they both failed miserably at their first head coaching gigs. O plainly wasn't ready to be a head coach when he was at Ole Miss. It was 10 fricking years ago.

If you want to talk about 2005, what happened in 2004 is more telling than what happened in 2003. Georgia of 2004 stomped LSU. Most of that Georgia team returned for 2005. Your assertion that LSU would have easily won a NC if only Saban had remained is ridiculous and demonstrates the level of your man crush.
Was it possible? Yes, but that wasn't your stance.

You don't like position coaches with no history of head coaching?
I guess you don't like Dabo Sweeney either. Haha

Dabo has done considerably better at his first HC job than 10-25 or whatever O was at OM and no way should LSU have considered a WR coach with no HC or Coordinator experience. Clemson in 2008 was not where LSU is now.

What's any of that got to do whether or not LSU easily wins the 2005 NC if only Saban was the coach? Even if LSU goes undefeated in the regular season, something they hadn't done in almost 50 years, they still are not jumping either Texas or USC.
I am sorry, but the Saban who coached LSU is not the same Saban who is coaching at Alabama.

Yes, and in that ten year period how many ADs in all of college football offered O a second chance to run their football program or even be a DC? Should we assume Alleva knows best
Why is so hard for some to understand that no one wants O to fail and no one hates O, but lots think LSU deserved a HC with at lease some success of his own making. The process Alleva used sucked and he is the one who put O in this situation.
Look, we win eleven games this year and I will be happy to say I was wrong.

well, that is your opinion, but I don't see that. That team was talented and the start and continuation of the juggernaut that he had begun to establish just like he did in Alabama. He would have easily walked through the SEC for another title.
In 2004 he got absolutely curbstomped by UGA. I don't see Amy guarantee of him producing a different result in 2005. Especially with how bad Jamarcus was in '04.

Only one college coach has ever won a title after being fired from a previous gig. Gene Stallings, and he was a lot more successful at A&M than O was with the weebles.
