Louisiana is doomed. We're all doomed.

I don't want to be alarmist about this. The modern world in general is a mostly unliveable place. Society is in decay. But Louisiana seems to be the trendsetter. Think about it.
Skyrocketing crime rates in the bigger cities.
Inability of local governments to pay for necessary law enforcement and other basic services.
Addicts everywhere (pills, meth, heroin), with numbers growing daily.
Hundreds of thousands of poor people taxing our health care system.
30% high school dropout rate (in 2017!) and we're being told it's improving.
Crumbling infrastructure, and the absence of funds to pay for maintenance, much less improvements.
Personal injury lawyers dominating TV screens and billboards, selling dreams of riches and causing forced income redistribution via insurance companies. (90% of suits pending in Louisiana courts are personal injury suits.)
Corrupt, self-dealing politicians, judges, and civil servants.
Lack of lynchpin industries (bye bye O&G), causing conversion to service economy in a state where nobody has any money.
People with brains (and money) leaving and taking their tax dollars with them, leaving fewer of us to support the parasitic underclass.
Too many fricking nail salons.
Oh, I almost forgot: the constant threat of utter decimation by Mother Nature.
I'm sure I am forgetting a bunch of stuff.
But hey, we still have Coach O. One team, one heartbeat. Geaux Tigers.

Definitely my biggest concern

I think the amount of nail salons is reasonable tbh

Wait 40 years when there is no more O&G in LA. It will become the Detroit of the South.

frick this. I'd rather live in today's world than in most of the 1800s.. I like having sewage, electricity and all this shite. Politicians have always been corrupt.

Taking down all the Confederate monuments will help get us back on track though.

What's this "we" shite? Y'all are all doomed, up here we will be just fine. We got snow and no black people.

When was Louisiana trending upwards? Seems like dystopian-like dysfunction for years upon years now.

Are you saying the rest of the country will start having hurricanes due to a trend started in Louisiana? Talk about some hipster shite.
"Hurricanes were so much cooler before Katrina. Now everyone's into them."

I post this every time someone tries to compare any city in Louisiana to somewhere else but.... look at the demographics and there is your answer.

Well, whatever you do, don't read "One Second After", I don't think you'll be able to handle it!

Don't nobody get outta this life in one piece. We all gonna die sooner or later.
Thing is, it's not what ya get, how much stuff ya got, but what ya do with what ya got that determines what kinda life ya live on this one trip through.
There's a whole lotta miserable people with a whole lotta stuff that the people themselves are not worth a flip. The happiest people I've ever known had hardly anything except each other.
Now...
Git off'n mah lawn!!!
