long story short my 14 month old had a what we thought was a cyst removed from the side of her neck just below the jawline back in may, fast forward less than 2 months later and it is back. went to the ENT in BR who removed it, and they want to go back in and remove again, but my wife and i want a second opinion this time. it seems to come back anytime my daughter gets a sinus infection. So we are looking for a pediatric specific ENT either in BR or at CHNOLA.
TIA

sounds like a branchial cleft cyst. If they didn't fully remove the tract the first go around, it can recur.
I don't have any specific recommendations, and a general ENT should be able to take care of it, but since you are looking for a second opinion, I would seek out someone who's completed a pediatric ENT fellowship. There are few in private practice in the region, but you can also look at LSU's department as well.

That's what they originally thought, however when they made the initial incision it was just below the skin and didn't share similar charachteristics of a cyst. They sounded like it wasn't common and she hadn't seen it before. We had a ct scan on Monday that showed it being an "inflamed area of fatty tissue, without any real tract".

weird. would be interesting to know what the pathology report was on the first surgery. The CT scan sounds like there's not a definite mass either, though your ENT may see something on the imaging that the radiology didn't read.
In any case, LSU's pediatric fellowship-trained ENTs are at CH-NOLA. Konatra, Dunham, or Hagmann are gonna be your best choices I would think. But I don't know any of them on a personal/professional level.

I know hagmann at CHNOLA and he's a great guy. I've taken my kid to him before and wouldn't hesitate again. I now work with Guarisco, Kimsey Rodriguez, and John Carter at ochsner on Jeff hwy now and would take my kids to any of them as well. They are all pediatric fellowship trained ENTs and are all great docs. Hope this helps!

Its gonna be a recurrent brachial cleft cyst. Its not a big deal. Dont waste a lot of money on this.

It's not a brachial cleft cyst. That was the orginal diagnosis before the first surgery back in may, when they went in, they discovered it did not present like a brachial cleft cyst and was just under the skin in the fatty tissue. That's why we are where we are, the ent we went to, although a fantastic doctor who we will continue using, has never seen this type of growth because it doesn't present like a normal cyst. The entire reason we are looking for a second opinion is that this looks to be the 3rd surgery in 4 months, and it seems that it isn't some run of the mill cyst. Also it has nothing to do with money. It's about what's best for her.

Nice flashback from the past this morning. My mother babysat his children when she was younger, so he was my pediatrician when I was a child.
I'm 31 now

I love these threads where all you seem to really learn is which doctors in certain areas do certain posters know.
People really making vital healthcare choices on a bunch of message board 'look at me' name drops?

Yea, I don't think I'd ever really go to a message board for doctor recommendations. But, then again, I don't have kids. I imagine I'd try everything if I did,
