How old is the boat.
No taxes if 10 years or older I believe.

No sales tax on the boat. It is a "casual sale" if transfer is between two individuals. Like other poster said, make a second bill of sale for the trailer. DMV will calculate taxes when you register it. LDWF will charge for boat registration under all circumstances. None of these items are very significant.

I did this today. Didn't need a second bill of sale for the trailer. Signing the trailer title over acted as the bill of sale. Went to an auto title place, paid tax and title registration and walked out with a new plate.

So how did you know how much to pay sales tax on for the trailer? You paid tax on the title value? If so, you overpaid.

Why would I have overpaid? The seller and I both agreed to undervalue the trailer and hand wrote the value on the back of the trailer title. That means fewer taxes for me than if I paid FMV for the trailer.

you should only pay sales tax on the trailer. So on the back of the title state you are selling it for $100.

I did this a few months ago. You pay to transfer the trailer title, taxes on the trailer, and to register the boat and trailer. Depending on how long you register the trailer for and how long your boat is, it will vary. I think for my 22', I paid like 250-300 to do everything w notary fees and having the title place do everything. I think I could've saved like 100 bucks mailing everything myself. I'm never in town so it was all worth it for me.
Edit(just checked):For a 22' boat it looks like you'd have a 68.50 title transfer, a 70.00 permanent trailer registration fee, and a 41.00 boat registration fee, plus notary fees and handling fees. I'd consider those numbers a bare minimum. Someone correct me if this doesn't seem right.
