Honest Opinion of Ivanka Trump

She is the perfect woman, the gold standard that all women should strive to be, and all men should strive to marry.

Basically, everyone has a role model that is best suited to them. For me, the best role model is someone who overcame poor living conditions or dealt with some form institutionalized discrimination/bias.

Wow. None are so blind...

You are parading discrimination and bias. Why can't she relate to YOUR perceived "working woman"? You are institutionalizing discrimination against her because of your bias against wealth. You are dehumanizing her!!!

You think yourself special because you experienced some form of discrimination or bias?! We all have our crosses to bear. We all experience bias because of intelligence, education, height, weight, age, sex, race, religion, language, looks, etc. Some of us push past these limitations, and some surrender to them. Some forgive the ignorance of the biased, and some destroy themselves in hatred. But every human has their good and bad points. Every human can learn how to do and how not to do something from everyone. And to deny this is to implicitly state your perceived superiority over that person, and to claim their inferiority as a person.

Get off your high horse man, and explore the humanity of your perceived opponents.

Well shite man, of course the GOP, or the DNC, know nothing of and ain't truly concerned for the common man.

Rulers just want to oppress, it is a universal maxim.

I'd put my life accomplishments up against Michelle's or Ivanka's .

She has many privileges and resources available to her that the average US women does not have.

She has used those privileges to start and maintain a successful company. I think that's a great role model for anyone.

I think the idea is that Ivanka Trump wouldn't have a line of clothing at Dillards or wherever if not for her father.

Which is probably true, regardless of how meritorious her career is.

That doesn't mean the money she earns off it is not hers.

Many many people Dem and Rep alike own businesses started by their parents or with help from their parents.

It's not a bad thing

What exactly is the plight of the average woman? And what do you think she or anyone else should be doing to address said plight?

No, it doesn't. I think Ivanka Trump is accomplished and intelligent.

I don't like her political philosophy, and I don't particularly like her role in this administration.

But to the extent OP is saying she's got flaws as a working woman role model, he's right. But, there aren't a lot of working women role models in the GOP (or on the other side, for that matter), so she's probably still something of an asset.

FWIW, the women I know aren't turned off by Ivanka's success or lack thereof, or her head start due to her dad, but rather her populist and large government leanings. These are conservative women, of course. Liberals hate her because of her father.

Those aren't things the average middle class mother of 3 can focus on

Yes, she can. Anyone can focus on their dreams and aspirations. You may not be able to devote yourself to it full-time, but that doesn't mean that you don't focus on it sometimes. Hopefully, at some point, those 3 kids are going to get jobs and move out of the house. If the single mother has been devoting at least some time to her dreams and aspirations, she has a leg up on those who haven't.

Being a Trump didn't exactly endear Ivanka to anyone. She is managing to maintain her clothing line in the face of many stores announcing that they will not carry her line...simply because of her branded name.

I mean what you're saying is true, but some groups experience more negative stereotypes and discrimination than others. Stop being disingenuous

Hard honest work is respected.

I don't think entertainers are affecting big worldly improvement, with exceptions of course.

Somehow, suggesting that she had a easier route to success is a bad thing to say.

When I say easier, what I mean is that she had the ability to focus solely on her craft. Her fortune allowed her to mitigate any outside influence or stressor that the average American has to deal with (health insurance, bills, student loans, etc.)

I think most Americans would be more successful if they didn't have to juggle so many hats or handle so many other factors outside of just their craft

You're wrong. Most people that win the lotto quit their jobs and live a life of leisure.
