On the list includes a new bridge for BR, adding lanes from the bridge to the split, adding an extra lane in both directions on I-10 between BR and Lafayette and a northern loop among other things.
but, but, but, all theses things were supposed to be dones 20 years ago with the last gas tax. You mean they weren't? Well what happened? We were told all Louisiana's traffic woes would be fixed with that gas tax.
And wheres this new bridge gonna be built? Do you have a proposed location? do you have a consensus? Hell, do you even have an idea?
You want me to pay more taxes now and you can't even begin to supply the first detail of what you want to do.
You want to know how to regain my trust? Quit asking me for more money. Quit telling me about all the things you're gonna do...one day. Come to me and tell me exactly where you want to build your bridge. Show me that everyone is on board. Tell me, to the penny, how much it should cost. Show me that you've done due diligence and that a $30 or $30 billion dollar bridge is gonna cost just that. Then we can discuss funding it. Quit treating MY MONEY (tax dollars) like its your money that your entitled to. ITS NOT. Telling me about all the shite you're going to build when you are years away from doing so is horse shite and leads to higher costs- that require....(wait for it)...MORE MONEY.
Sorry boo, you have zero credibility. And you offered nothing here to convince me you should be given benfit of the doubt.

They are giving you 85% of 50%, and 27% of something else, and each legislator control over maintenance funds, etc.
Ironclad????
No way.

Restore the faith and trust of the tax payers and then come ask for more money.
Can you propose a way to do this? Is it kind of like a relationship where you were cheated on and only time will heal it? How does a government, or anyone or any organization "earn your trust" again without being given the opportunity?
I've said it before.....Enjoy your crappy roads and realize that they will only get worse over time.

and lets not forget we are maybe 5, maybe 10 years away from breaking ground? LOFnL. By then DOTD will come back with the standard line about inflation, cost increases, etc. and tell us we need more money. Need more taxes on gas to adjust for rising cost.
Meanwhile, at your household, rising costs are addressed by you doing with less and going without. But not the state. Oh no. Theres always more money when you just take it, right?

Ideally....Plaquemine Point somewhere immediately south of Dow.
It's close to West Baton Rouge but still within Iberville Parish. Preferably they'll issue bonds that can be paid off with toll revenue over 30 years.

Airline needs to be improved and some kind of by-pass is in order.
Critical IMO.
We have the Huey Long bridge, we just have no efficient way to get a lot of traffic to and from the damn thing.
Widening Airline and eliminating left turns at some of those lights would really help out. So would turning LA 1 into a freeway between I-10 and US 190.

you're absolutely correct, trust is a tough thing to establish. Even harder to regain. There is no set program or series of steps to give you. First thing the state could do is quit asking me for money. Go do your job with what you have, imperfect though that may be. Take what you have and show me that you can spend it on what its intended for. Prove to me that the money is being spent properly- even if its just repairs. Do your fricking job with what you have. Then MAYBE I'll trust you and be more generous. Otherwise, no deal.

I'm already enjoying crappy roads. I'd rather enjoy them without paying more for them. I'm gonna have crappy roads regardless.

Louisiana mindset in a nutshell
Louisiana has the highest effective tax rate in the country. It has some of the worst infrastructure. But you're right, we should pay more.

California on line 1.....
I challenge you to prove that statement.

Why didn't you take the loop?
Here i found an updated map for the guys looking for the upcoming loop
You guys can thank me later. The mayor assured me that construction will be completed by next summer! Would have been sooner but the 2 new bridges pushed it back.

The state sales tax is actually more towards the middle of the pack in the US.

So what! When you purchase goods they charge you both state and local sales tax which is the highest in the nation.
