I don't see those jet sweeps working well against the better SEC defenses. Teams like Florida or Bama will eat them alive with their team speed. Other than that, looks very interesting.

Honestly though, it all just depends on how well Etling plays. If they can make defense be forced into respecting stretching the outside and a half competent QB throwing the ball, you can really throw them off. I'm just not sold Etling is good enough against the better SEC defenses.

Are people really not understanding that the actual success of the jet sweep doesn't matter?

Even if the play gets stopped for a short gain or for a loss, it still makes the defense commit a defender to it which is one less defender trying to tackle guice up the middle when we fake the sweep.

Did we get slower in the process? Speed is relative at this level - everyone has speed. The point of the jet sweep is to attack the edges and force a defense to cover it. If a defense decides not to shift they lose the numbers game every time. All of it is designed to wear out a defense and cover the entire field. By contrast the LesCam offense allowed a defense to focus on between the tackles and the deep pass. Nothing else was needed.
ETA: the drive after 1st & 25 was legit.
