I just don't know if a bunch of that sideline sweep stuff will work as much on the faster SEC defenses. I hope they put DJax in there on some of the sweep plays. Even as a decoy the defense would have to respect his speed. All I know is our TE's and FB's better be ready to get the ball a bunch. Definitely not the predictable old offense we've seen the past decade. I love the screen to the lineman.

Just watched. That offense for us will definitely be able to win 11 games on our schedule but it's too much power football to win against bama. Plus most of those jet sweeps will be swallowed up.

The wide sweep action is designed to both tire out the defense and make them tentative to the inside play. I can see with Chark, Dillon and even moving Guice into the Hb slot the defense will be looking wide to the sweep play and someone like Williams can hammer up the middle for 5-8 yards.

I was impressed with how they approached the times when the offense was "off schedule" with 2nd and 3rd down and long plays. Our athletes will thrive in this offense.

HUH? go back and watch what UF, Au and OSU have done to bama defenses using horizontal stretches which then opens up vertical plays.

You make teams defend the whole field horizontal and vertical.

That was my thought as well, but I think Canada will adapt to the defense each week. Les basically just ran the same thing regardless of opponent.

The video just shows one game, but there wasn't (at least early) a ton of RB involvement. That can't happen with Guice as the RB. It doesn't have to be the two TE single back formations of years past, but I think he has to be the guy touching the ball most on offense. He's a huge play waiting to happen.

I hate to be a dick, but X's and O's threads like these really show who understands football concepts and who doesn't. Any window dressing that you can give a defense pre snap is an advantage for an offense. The last a defense wants to do is think, they want fire off the snap and read their keys. Shifting, Jet motion, Comet motion (back moving out) prevents them from doing that

ACC defenses have speed too. I think we need to stop perpetuating this myth that the SEC is so different.

NC State, Va Tech, Clemson, FSU, Louisville, to name a few have comparable defensive talent to your average team in the SEC.

It worked on Clemson with much less talent.

I want that Pitt OL Ryan O'Neal to transfer to LSU.

How about hitting Ohio & Pennsylvania for a few OL's?

It doesn't have to. It just has to prevent defenders from automatically crashing in on the running back.
