It's not guaranteed. But they'll be allowed to do that. If a site doesn't pay, they could definitely be slowed down, or worse. Or if the site gives an opinion the ISP doesn't like, they may straight up block the website altogether. You may get some overly dramatic opinions about this, but by removing NN, these things are possible.

What CCTider said. Also, ISPs don't want to be forced to upgrade infrastructure for internet, and have profits regulated. I would be fine with paying a reasonable price for what I use. On the flip side, I want access to gig speed for cheap like in other countries, and ISPs have to get permission for rate increases like we do other utilities in this country.

What happens when NBC (Comcast) blocks Beirtbart or Infowars? CNN is owned by Time Warner. What happens if they start slowing down bandwidth to Fox News? What if someone wrote an anti Comcast blog post, and they straight up censor it and won't allow access?

I go to their competitor.

Fyi, that pricing picture, while fake, is cheaper than I pay for internet right now.

What if there are no competitors in your city? Or rural citizen's who use DSL or 4g hot spots? Big cities have choice. But millions don't.

And I think that's just an example. And it also says DSL, which I doubt you have. But considering that South Koreans get fiber networks for about $30 a month, we're getting screwed on price, even with net neutrality. But my concern is censorship and throttling. Removing net neutrality only benefits ISPs. Not the American people.

You're basically just parroting everything I've seen on Reddit today, including graphics. That graphic is straight up fear mongering. It's like saying that just because I can light my house on fire I'll do it.

Just because an ISP can bundle sites in packages doesn't mean they'll do it. As soon as they do, they pave the way for competition in their regions. Companies like Cox have worked for years to buy out competition in their regions, why would they give it right back?

What competition do speak of? There is no competitor is what you don't understand. We're simply dealing with the 6 families, and they've all agreed to frick you the consumer over. They're nothing more than mob bosses who divide their territory up willingly so they all get a piece of the pie in fricking you over.

Reddit seems to believe there is documented collusion between all the companies to do this together.

And this collusion will not be prosecuted.

Hum... why don't we have TV neutrality? Why do I have to buy packages?

That's why cable is dying. And millions have cut the cord. Why it is allowed, probably boils down to political lobbying during cable's infancy.

Our FCC chairman per Wikipedia
quote:

Pai highlighted First Amendment issues on the commission, citing them as a significant reason for voting against net neutrality. He called the Open Internet Order's declaration that Internet service providers have no freedom of speech an attempt to weaken the "culture of the First Amendment,"[31] and said it was "conceivable" the agency would seek to regulate political speech offered by edge providers such as Fox News or the Drudge Report.[32]

It's a first amendment issue. If the ISP can't control what you're allowed to see then it infringes on their freedom of speech. Get on board.

If there is an extra dollar to be made the "6 families" will go to the mattresses trying to frick each other into the ground.

Wasn't Comcast caught throttling Netflix?

Comcast didn't like Netflix opinion so they throttled them?

Sounds more like Comcast throttled Netflix even though they paid for more.

So even in a non-NN Comcast was wrong.

We do.

Cox can't decide to give you CNN at full HD and fox with no audio and scrambled porn video.

Why can't I just tune to a specific channel and contract with that channel directly like I do with Netflix?

You can. That's exactly how HBO, showtime, etc... Work.

quote:

Why does the cable company get to charge those channels for "fast lanes"

That's not at all what the fast lane analogy is.
