SIAP, Nola.com: Top athlete from every Louisiana parish
Posted on 7/7/17 at 5:19 pm

Part 1
Part 2
Thoughts: Hard to argue with Mark "Super" Duper getting the nod for Avoyelles, but no Chad Lavalais in the honorable mention?
Must have been hard to narrow down the field for certain parishes (EBR, Orleans, Jefferson, Caddo, Ouachita, Lafayette, River Parishes, etc)
No Ed O for Lafourche

Not sure how I was not mentioned for Jefferson Parish.
I was a big deal at Bright back in the day...

I only skimmed part 2. If they left off Tommy Banks from Ouachita im gonna leave a derogatory remark in the comments section.

Chris Duhon for Evangeline parish is a stretch.

I would think that Jefferson and Orleans Parish would be no-brainers, Mel Ott and Peyton Manning. DId they chose someone other than those two?

Ouachita Parish is Bill Russell.
Hard to argue that. Even though I wish Don Redden would have been mentioned.

Mitchell Robinson's pro career > Norris Weese's

I meant more like the group of athletes they considered given how many come through there.

WHat ever happened to that big black dude that played football and a lil basketball for Chalmette several yrs back? Boudreaux, I think his name was?

Will say this... I'll say this more during HS football season, but not many coaches in Louisiana do more with less than our Jason Tucker... When your greatest athlete in parish history is probably the worst of all 64 parishes, it goes to show how hard a job Tucker has in a district with Landry Walker and John Ehret and now coming up, a Cyril Crutchfield-coached West Jefferson

Ouachita Parish is Bill Russell.
Hard to argue that
he moved when he was 8
orleans is peyton but eli doesn't get HM... and what about cooper?
I love that they have it to a chick over brandon jacobs. frick that a-hole

I could have added quite a few others for Ouachita Parish. Bill Russell was never an athlete while in Ouachita, he moved when he was 8.
Bradie James, Andrew Whitworth, Bubby Brister, Don Redden, Tommy Banks, Benoit Benjamin, Richard Savage and Toby Caston are a few others that deserve mention. I seem to remember Dallas Cowboys' TE Billy Joe Dupree was from West Monroe but like Russell he may have moved away at an early age.

none of these guys, including my fellow alumnus Wilson, should have been, and that goes for Ed O too....

I'm gonna go ahead and assume Ed Reed is St. Charles' guy.

Chad Lavalais doesn't even get a mention for avoyelles? What kind of bullshite is that?

I will have to disagree with the pick for Tangipohoa Parish.
While Jackie Smith is a good pick being a Pro Football Hall of Famer and one of the all time great tight ends. I don't think it tops Kim Mulkey who won 4 state championships at Hammond High. 2 national championships at La Tech was a All American. Then went on to win a Gold medal in 1984.
I am not really a fan of women's basketball but you can't argue with these accomplishments.
