Got a little one due at the end of September. Is it better to rack up on sleep while I can or start training myself to wake up every few hours to get ready for the first couple months so that my body is use to it and I won't be so worn out when in starts.

Drinking has started early. Happy 4th folks!!!

Do you plan on breast feeding?

All kids are different, some may sleep through the night sooner than others but for first week take turns on waking up with the baby. Congrats!

Why do you need to prepare you won't be waking up in the middle of the night?

Get your dog to start barking in the middle of the night to get your wife used to not sleeping.

Sleeping in July wont help you in September.

You only need to start a couple weeks ahead of time to get used to a schedule.

Sorry guy, but no way to prepare yourself unless you figure a way to bank sleep hours. It will suck complete balls for a few months. If your wife decides to breastfeed then you will need to support her more than the baby because she will be doing most of the heavy lifting. Good luck

No I don't but I assume at some point I'll have to bottle in the middle of the night.

And thanks to the next guy. Gonna be fun.

If your a good dad you will be getting up every 3 hours or so in the beginning. Get the kid sleeping in a rock n play and enjoy a solid 8 hours around 2 months in. I say this as my
2 month old is snoring on my chest

Just be a normal human and adapt when it happens. You literally have no idea how much your life is about to change (not bad, just in general).

Rack up on doing shite without having to plan around the baby and getting hammered and being a able to sleep in.

You can't put sleep in the bank for later. Plus Mrs. Couv needs to get up with the baby in the beginning - the baby can try to nurse when she's asleep but it would be hard.

If she stores breast milk, you can wake up and bottle feed the baby. The milk can be microwaved in a paper cup and then poured into the bottle. Swirl to mix hot and cold spots (NEVER shake as that will mix air bubbles into the milk.) Test the temperature by applying milk to the inside of your forearm.

You'll be worn out the first 3-6 months but it'll get better. You get used to it. I have twins and they slept through the night at 4-5 months as long as one of them didn't get pissy.

First off, congratulations.
And I'm sorry but you never really get use to it.

Best of luck to you

Rest now. Be in optimum health.

Drink less. Love more.

You can buy adrenal pills. Bovine and lamb adrenals. One with breakfast. One with lunch. Get used to eating healthy. Raw is best. Vitamix should be on shower gift list. Team purchase. $500 new.
