When you look at his numbers compared to his peers, he wasn't blowing away the competition.

And threw 23+ INTs in 3 seasons that decade while at it. Never a QB rating over 100 the entire decade, Steve achieved 100+ 6x.

What? That's ridiculous. John Elway was considered an all timer long before he won those two Superbowls. They added to his resume of course, but much like his contemporary Marino, everyone already knew they were all time great quarterbacks whether they won the title or not. To say that was the "sole" reason is absurd.

I'll give you this one STAT wise... but he led his team to only one SB....Elway, Fabre, and Aikman led their teams to multiple SB's.

he's a white donovan mcnabb that won super bowls.

Yeah, until Elway won those Super Bowls, he was going be perceived as overrated bc he had so much hype and promotion entering the league as "the greatest pro quarterback prospect ever," acted like a little bitch over Baltimore drafting him, choked in the 3 prior Super Bowls, achieved very pedestrian, underwhelming passer ratings, wasn't even that accurate in the playoffs, and didn't even win that many accolades for "the greatest pro quarterback prospect ever." These two wins and the Super Bowl MVP really enhanced his career legacy relative to all that occurred prior.

Hate to break this to you PEEJ but ring amount isn't the primary determinant on who's a better QB, stats are relevant too and Young DID win a Super Bowl and its MVP.
Posted on 6/29/17 at 11:37 am to ThePTExperience1969
It was Bret Farve.

Elway carried three Denver teams to Super Bowls before TD came along.

Using this same dumb logic Drew Brees sole reason to winning a super bowl let alone playoff game is having a great OL and a defense that ranks top 5 in the league in turnovers. Empty stats yo

Brett favre was the only one of those guys to win 3 mvps in the 90s. Theres your answer

I remember the 1993 NFC Champ game. Cowboys were stacked but so were the Niners - the 1992 Niners had home field advantagel 14-2.
Aikman and Young had almost identical games and numbers (I mean total yards was 415 to 416)...except one difference.
Young had two picks; Aikman had zero.
That was the difference in the game.
Ppl act like Young carried the flame of a dying franchise...from 1992-1998 he had some stacked teams...and could only get out of the shadow of the Boys and Pack but 1 time.
