Meanwhile, I will drive the 70 miles to take mine to the Audubon Zoo.
What if the zoo moved right down the road from the casino?

Chauna is a great leader and does a tremendous job representing her district on the BR Metro Council. She is an asset to the community of Baton Rouge.
When speaking to people within the community, some adjectives that are used to describe Ms. Banks are articulate, compassionate, courageous (against whitey), impartial and aboveboard.
She's the Dytarsha of the EBRCOA. Always giving.

Why do people in NRB care so much about the zoo? Nobody in NBR goes to the zoo.

The "study" they should do is just ask every person buying a ticket their home zip code. I would love to see the breakdown by zip code after just 3 months. I assume the north br zip codes will have lowest attendance.

I believe that they already do that. They know where their attendance comes from, which is why they want to move it.

I think it is a waste of resources to move the zoo. They can update a few areas that need it for a fraction of the cost.

Does her want mean anything?

The zoo will always be in North Baton Rouge. Even if they do move it.

I said some of this in the thread yesterday but the current location will never become a revenue asset to the city.
Zoo's need revenue from corporate events an wedding receptions to survive. That location will never be suitable for those clients
The current location also provides no benefit to the surrounding areas. The local citizens do not work at the zoo or go to the zoo. Also, the patrons of the zoo get food and gas before getting to that area specifically so they dont have to stop between the interstate exit and the zoo.
The 2 options are spend a ton of money on a depreciating asset that will never develop new revenue streams, or spend more initially and build a new zoo in a location that will benefit from the revenue streams that all other zoo's survive on.

Do you hear that? That's the sound of St. George picking up more votes...

What a sound and articulated argument to discredit my point.
BR has immense infrastructure issues. Even if the money is donated, couldn't that money also be raised for a more pressing issue?
It's wasteful spending to move something like that when they could easy finish the restoration, and put the other proposed park in another location.
I've yet to see anything in the plan where the new zoo would be the central fixture in a greater commercial venture. Until that is done, then keep it where it is. Upgrade the vet facilities, put in an elephant enclosure that meets current standards, and refurbish the last remaining chainlink fence exhibits.

I completely agree. I oppose this move strictly on monetary grounds. It's a waste of funds. If it dies, it dies.

I watched the streaming feed from the video. She was spinning it like the Baton Rouge Area Foundation is some kind of evil entity. She's going over the people one by one on the survey and honestly they seemed pretty damn respectable and caring if you asked me.
Fairly insulting tone imo.
Reality is the zoo isn't utilized by north baton rouge. North baton rouge doesn't make money off of it. The study indicates if would do better elsewhere (which is obvious) but somehow it's become something to fight over as if the zoo is some huge asset to north baton rouge.
IE it's just a political version of the race card for the race pimps and hustlers.

In other news. Chauna Banks' daughter announces the creation of "ZooStudoes LLC," which is described as a cutting edge leader in the area of studies about the relocation of zoological parks in Louisiana metro areas of 750k or less.

Yes, the 43 square miles of theme parks located smack dab in the middle of a densely populated state is incredibly inconvenient to visit.

Or option three, save a pile of money by realizing that BREC is not capable of running a zoo like Audubon and that investing 140 million dollars with BREC in some grand scheme is foolish.
Instead let's fix up what we have now, improve segments until it's all modern.
This is not a racial issue, it's not a north v south issue; it's a financial issue. I have seen how BREC operates their parks, golf courses, baseball fields and their zoo; and I know they can't take care of what they have and giving them more to spend is crazy.

The people that are donating money for a new zoo are donating the money for a new zoo. They aren't donating piles of money for our shithead mayor and her crooks to spend elsewhere.
